When We Blaze

When we blaze we sit on the blanket in the window nook, where there's only enough room for one. The neighbors across the street may look in, but they probably don't, and when we blaze we don't worry about such things. The smoke drifts out the window, which is open a crack. First our throats blaze, then our foreheads, temples, and eyes. When we blaze we know that our bodies are only envelopes. We leave our clothing on the floor. We rub our eyes and skin to make sure the envelope is sealed, and we won't go sailing out the window along with the smoke.

The cat watches curiously from his place on the bed; he does not blaze in brief moments as we do, instead he smolders forever.

We feel warm, dry, and safe when we blaze. We feel as though we are in a desert--a dim, cozy desert without sunburn. We hear bubbles and the sloshing of water as we blaze, and we ponder the irony of this. When we blaze we touch each other, and we think about how we are connected, yet we will never quite get close enough to escape loneliness. Our minds race when we blaze, as though there were logic vaporized in the smoke itself. We switch off our preconceptions. Time slows down when we blaze. We can stop to look at the things we rushed past before. Even the old, the routine, the boring things can be seen anew.

When we blaze we become fascinated with the sound of each other's voices, so we keep on talking even when he have nothing worth saying, and alternately we smile, eyes closed, and listen. Our long hair wraps our heads like a familiar blanket. We drink pineapple juice. We smile at the thought of a pine tree producing apples.

When we blaze we listen to music--long tracks of epic beauty. We close our eyes and forget where we are, and when we open them again, we see the world strobing around us. We think scientifically about this for a moment, wondering what determines the frequency of the strobe. Our movements seem divinely graceful, like soaring hawks in an insect world.

We go to bed after we've been blazing for a few hours, because it's disappointing to be awake when the last of the smoke dissipates, and we can drift into sleep more easily this way. We see the outline of the room in pulsating cherry red tones as we close our eyes. The cat smolders beside us as we have vivid, happy dreams.

I think pot is one of the most under-rated substances, IMHO it's an amazing plant in every way, and the high is excellent & probing.
