Heating a terrarium
    #660241 - 06/03/02 07:32 AM (21 years, 9 months ago)

I was wondering if maintaining the right temps and rh during the spawn run is crucial when working with a casing, I have the temp right but not the rh. And am I going to have to use some method to heat to keep in pinning range? Or will room temp be fine?

Thats why you ahve foil or saran wrap over your casing with a few holes poked in it. That ensures high humidity, and that casing should be in a 86F zone, to make sure the mycelium is still in vegetative growth and oclonizing.

Room temp is what you want to start pinning in.

Heres a cool way to both heat a terrarium and raise humidity.

Use a 75W aquarium heater in a glass of water that is placed in your terrarium with perlite. Heat and lots of evaporation from the elevated temp. Turn it off for a day or two to drop temps to help initiate pinning.
