yeah i saw them on HBO On Demand this month and watched their video clips - definitely good.

I play the mandolin aswell but i can't even touch that guy. Wish i could play the mando w/ a slide.

I saw JMP at a little fest in northern wisconsin 5 or 6 years ago. Was no problem to get right up front and watch them rock out. Saw them at a Tent at Bonnaroo a few years later and it was fucking PACKED with phish kids cuz Fishman was playing drums. That show was pretty tight as well, but we were way in the back.

I bought one, had some good fun with it, but didnt put enough effort into it to really learn how to play it.

Long story short i sold it on craigslist and spent have the money on acid, and the other half is going towards a new electric guitar.

Every time i hear that distinct sound of that instrument i fall in love all over again.

Damn man I always feel bad wehn people give up playing, or give up an instrument.... But hey, you still play guitar, so thats not so bad. I have 2 electrics, and 1 acoustic. But I still want a mandolin, Djembe drum, bass guitar and bass amp.

i picked up a $150 mando around october and since i've been playing guitar for ~8yr i pretty much taught myself. this past christmas i picked up this 5-string electric mandolin... very nice

Mine looks like this but the yellow part is silver.

i really want to learn to play a mandolin but i dint have any experience with a string instrument, do you think it would be hard to take up?

They played Hexfest in '02.....my first show (not first concert, but first of this nature), and my first trip. I've told that story many times, but basically I took 3 big hits of incredible WoW unperf, wandered around lost in lysergic bliss for a while, then got right up front for JMP. (Seeing as most of you have never been there, let me explain; this is a very small music festival in a very intimate setting in the woods. The stage is about a foot high off the ground, and you can get RIGHT up there. It's the most intimate concert setting I've ever experienced.) As I'm sure you can imagine listening to them, they took me out, waaay out. It was wild to say the least.  Afterwards I got to meet all of them, and really talk in depth; they really know a whole shitload about music; have had a lot of training.

I came across some a recording of another show I went too, a couple weeks later at the electric factory where they opened up for Vida  Blue....and all the memories came flooding back. :grin:
