Probably the latter, if not in the sense that probably there have been no discoveries (which I do not know) at least in the sense that if there have been I wouldn't trust such a system to develop data usable by everyone, as in the uploaded data probably has copyright or some similar shit

There haven't been any major breakthroughs, but there have been lots of papers and such written.

Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free.
But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.

You think 45 papers published in major scientific publications is a waste? It's not. Also here's some more information on results, and summaries of each project's goals. If you are not running Folding@home I am better than you!

does folding pull alot of bandwith and or CPU resource?

is it something you would always have running the background or something to just kick on when you go to bed or whatever?

You can set the percentage of free CPU usage it uses.

Either one, you can pause it whenever, I keep it running all the time though

You have to edit your personal information on the forum and put in your folding username down towards the bottom of the page

I just started running it a few days ago and haven't had any problems at all on my shitty laptop.  I've been multitasking constantly with it going in the background and no crashes so far.

I figure even if it doesn't lead to any breakthrough discoveries, it takes no effort on my part...and then I'll get a cool little DNA thingy under my name.
