im sick of where i live. i try my hardest everday to make it a more compassionate place to live but that's impossible. so i want to move. nay! i must move. this is a serious post and i want some serious answers. where is a place i could move to where there are compassionate, loving, whole-hearted humans?

Finding some smaller friendly cities or towns probably isn't too difficult. I'll bet there are even friendly ratings for places on the net that can be found with a google search.

WA is a fantastic state. closer to seattle is pretty chill/hippy-ish.

southeastern WA is a bit more hickish. but still very very friendly and genuine.

I, too, am sick of my current location. I'm a geek caught in Minnesota; I want to instead be with my own kind near California, but Arizona might do just fine, too. =) May I ask why you wish to move?

The suburbs of Denver are pretty straight. That's where I'm headed. The people are pretty nice and the cops care less about drugs there than anywhere else in the US. And the weather is usually always nice. Plus Colorado's one of the most beautiful states.

Asheville, NC is awesome. I'm actually in the process of moving there myself.

Burlington, VT. Probably the single coolest town in America, it's just too far north for me to live there.

Burlington VT is about as sweet as it gets. I lived there for a long time, all the fam is still there. Small town, lots of culture, plenty of college aged kids, right on the lake, fresh air, trees, good skiing in the winter, awesome swimming holes in the mountains, mooses, and Montreal is only an hour away.

im going to have to visit asheville, NC

but its always been a lifelong dream of mine to live in Arizona... ive never really been west though.. Ohio is the furthest west i have been, well take that back.. i have visited Chicago.

I live in Minnesota. Many people like it here for the same reasons that people enjoy Colorado, it would seem. Fishing, hunting, pretty view, clean air, college students around, etc. The only reason I don't like it is because I want to start a business, be an entrepreneur, and I can't find ANYONE to band up with. Or, at least, I might be able to, but getting intelligent computer workers is a real challenge. That's the only reason I want to live around Cali.

Would you people say that this is just me having ludicrous, unrealistic, romantic thoughts of the region, though? I do want to go nearer to the middle of the states, at least. MN is too cold (right now it's like 10 degrees F out and it gets way below zero in an average winter).

Well BC is a great place to start your search, IF you are willing to come as far as Canada. There are towns both big and small that are just what you are looking for, personally where I used to live, was quite the destination for draft dodgers, and lots of American hippies settled there, its a beautiful town. With a great culture. I can't say enough good about it, honestly, its an amazing place to live. (PM if you want lots of details)

Then there are towns like Nelson, also a VERY friendly place, and even Vancouver is perfect IMO.  BC is really where its at IMO, and if you want to stay in the states, settle in the PNW.... Washington state is fucking AWESOME IMO.

Really ...all things considered..... the PNW is the BEST PLACE ON EARTH. :earth:
