I think gumby dude has a whole post on tennessee shrooms. They do infact exist. You're in the area for cubensis, I believe as well. Cubies are rather common in cow fields.

hey, thanks for the info. i have a good cow pasture behind my neighborhood and it just rained like hell last night. the sun isn't out though. i was wondering what would be the best time to go hunting? I'm very excited as to learn about this subject so if anyone has any useful tips or tricks they would be much appreciated

Ehh... I very highly doubt that you would find cubies in Tennessee. They are rarely found north of Atlanta. At this time of year you'd be looking for Panaeolus species. Later into the fall you may find some Gyms.
I'm going to give that thread I made a bump, It's called something like "Mushrooms found in the southeast," Take a look at that thread.

On the main page of the Shroomery under the section grow/find, click finding mushrooms, then click "Mapping the Mycelial Network. This is a state by state listing of mushrooms. They list 9 species of psychotropic mushrooms in Tennesee. Also check the surrounding states that have similar climate to you as there might be some overlap.

i used to live in chattanooga tn-i found cubies alot-
lived there for 7 years-i had a great field
whoever says no cubies above atlanta-(gumby i think)keep looking they are there

Found cubies last summer (Mid July) in the Chattanooga area, too.
