Well I've been "trapped" for a year in January, but lets see she does the shopping, often brings pot home, and sucks my dick, hmmm,  hmmm...  :smirk: I will assume you were talking to the guy that got engaged.  Cause if this is prison, I don't want out for awhile.

Yeah, I got some yesterday. Good damn thing for what the ring cost.

let's see the ring...

This is all I can give ya. We tried taking pictures but they didn't come out too hot. Maybe I can get a better one later.

I always planned on spending more on an engagement ring but this was about all I could do at the moment and she was getting impatient.

Is 12/22 something special or is that just a crazy coincidence?

Anyway, here's another coincidence. We were planning on June '08 too!

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

Crazy coincidence I suppose...I intended on 12/23 for no particular reason except we'd be on the best beach in North America, but the moment was better on 12/22

I LOVE IT! IMO, it's perfect. i love simple engagement rings! the one i want is the classic Tiffany's ring. i've had it picked out since i was like... 15! it's under $1100 so, i think that's pretty good... especially since it's from Tiffany's.

We're not planning a date right now, but probably sometime in 2008 as well.  Maybe more towards the spring though, like April or May.  All I know if, my Stepfather is a justice of the peace so he's doing the ceremony, and a close friend of ours is a professional photographer, so he'll be doing that end of it.  For all I care, we can order pizza and buffalo wings, as long as my friends and family are there, I'll have fun

My fiancee was going to get a ring from Zales, but after looking at their inventory, their stuff is way overpriced for the quality.  All of their diamonds are really low on the clarity scale - I1-I3, meaning that without any microscope they have obvious inclusions in them, visible to the naked eye.  I found the same thing when checking out Belden Jewelers, Kay Jewelers, etc.  They have plenty of "colorless" diamonds, but almost all of them are at the bottom of the clarity scale, and way overpriced

Here's a picture of my ring

Also, are you guys planning on getting married in a church/temple or other religious setting, or someplace non denominational? Just curious.

Somebody's got nice taste.  I didn't know Tiffany's had anything under $1100.

Well I was brought up Catholic and my fiance is technically a Protestant. I say that because when I first asked her all she knew was that she was Christian.

If my grandfather was still alive he'd want me to have a Catholic wedding I'm sure but I think we'll probably plan on non-denom, maybe outdoors somewhere.

I kinda think the world would be better with less religion and more faith but that's just me.

Very beautiful ring BTW Liz. I know what you mean about the clarity too. The clarity issue with Zales also bothered me a little.

Thanks dark_star!  I think heart shaped diamonds are pretty too, I just really like princess cut.  My ring has a 1/2 carat princess cut center stone, with .35 carat sapphires on either side of it, and 1.0 carats of princess cut diamonds down the band...and .10 carats of round diamonds on the sides of the bank in the detailing...kind of hard to see in the pictures.  But yeah...I love it, and I love blue, so sapphires were appropriate

As for your night being a little fucked up (to the original poster), ours was as well.  On the way to our dinner reservation, I started to feel really sick.  Figured I was just nervous, since I had a good idea of what was about to happen.  But I started feeling worse and worse as the drive to the restaraunt went on.  We were going to a high class place, so we took my fiancee's parent's 2006 Lexus LS430, so as to not look out of place at a rich establishment.  ABout a block from the restaraunt, I realized that I wasn't going to make it there, so I had to make him pull over, and I puked for about 5 minutes out the door of this brand new car.  Then I felt better, so we went to dinner.  Then I started feeling worse again.  Couldn't eat ANY of my delicious food, and was so sad that I was ruining the whole evening.  My boyfriend was all disappointed and said that he was just going to wait to give it to me, since he wanted it to be special and didn't want me to be miserable when he did it.  But I told him that a pretty ring was the only thing that was going to make me feel better, so to "get over here and propose damnit".  So he did.  And my tummy felt better.  And then we came home and I puked some more, and then was fine the next day.  Figures I'd have a stupid stomach virus on the night I'm getting engaged

I was raised Jewish (not religious at all any more though, but my grandparents are) and my fiancee isn't religious at all, but HIS grandparents are southern baptist.  Should make for an interesting group of folks   We'll be doing something outside, or at a very non-religious place, because I want to do what we want to do, not what everyone else wants.
