Cleanin' out my closet...
    #6355992 -

Jingling the keys to my first place.  I'm rooming with two of my good friends later this week, having just made the security deposit today .  She handed me the keys and sent me on my way.  She's foreign, of some Latin descent...she's really laid back.  She lives primarily in New York, only returning on the weekends, and she let's us pay in cash, which works for my dealer friends .  Rent is $1600 monthly for everything.  And by everything I mean heat, electricity, cable, and possibly internet.  It's all included.  It's a relatively new house too...everything's still white, and smells new.  We're probably going to be moved in by next week, so I'll be away from the Shroomery for a while.  I'm really going to miss posting for a while; this is going to be a huge move for me.  I might be on here and there but for the most part I'm prepping for the big day.  I'm so excited to finally be moving out on my own.  Wish me well, I've been waiting for this time to come for quite a while, and with my new job I have some really positive feelings about this.

Sounds nice.

However, one of my life long regrets is living with a dealer. The house was broken into plenty of times, lots of shady people coming over... etc.

Yeah, he WAS my friend since 7th grade, but, that has come and gone.

Just be careful about that. I wouldn't ever sell anything from your own house.

FIRST PLACE?!?!?! You are a WINNAR!

nothing beats the freedom of living on your own...
nothing beats saving all that rent money living with mom even more :smirk:

be careful, living with dealers can be quite hazzardous, convince them not to
deal from the house, deliveries are the best way to go, no drug calls to the
house, no excessive traffic, it's too easy to get busted and as angryshroom
said, theft is commonplace when their customers are dropping by

We already agreed on that.  The other 2 rules suggested were "no silly bitches" and  "no living like a slob".  I agree .  I can't imagine how great this will be.  I mean complete freedom, living with two trusted friends.  It's going to be a completely new atmosphere, that was presented to me way sooner than expected.

You don't truly know somebody until you live with them. I hope you have a great time at your new place. Having the freedom is priceless. But realize it won't always be a gravy train.

So, SO, fucking true. My first place was cool, our own house, then we quickly moved to a F'in PIMP house, like you described, brand new.... Then I realized that my house mates were not the people I first believed them to be. A few months later our house was raided; and shit went wayyy downhill between everyone. Expect that everyone will act solely in his/her own interest, and you will be prepared for what may or may not come your way. I was far from prepared and paid (still paying) an indescribable cost.

Yes, you never really know someone until you live with them. Choose your housemates wisely.

Sad but true, I've lost more than a few friends by living with them.

By the way, dealing out of your house isn't bad if you deal with only friends through your house and handle any other deals elsewhere. Actually I shouldn't recommend this, I probably just had good friends, and knew even more when to cut friends loose.

Ahh christ my dog keeps farting.

Sorry, anyway, good luck with the house.

I'm still stuck with all my hand me down furniture too :-P.  I'm 6' tall with a twin bed, no frame.  I also have this old dresser that's an ugly color of wood, falling apart.  I have a torn up computer desk I use as an entertainment center...other than that there's really not much.  My new room doesn't have a closet, or a ceiling light, but that doesn't really bother me.  Shit, since I have the keys I might as well go over tonight and start moving some of my small shit in...at least get that out of the way.

 I can't believe how fast this is all happening!

Congratulations!  Having your own place/privacy is great

When it comes to living with friends though, communication is key.  If they're doing something you don't like, tell them.  And ask them to do the same.  You don't want to end up resenting your boys, ya know?

And as someone else said - no dealing out of the house.

Good luck.

I shared an apartment with my two best friends for two years.

We more or less hate each other now, and we're being sued by the landlord for like, 5K.

Well I finally began putting all my stuff in boxes, which is quite a task.  I have so much junk and unnecessary shit in my room, I'm keeping a trash bag next to me for shit that can go.  I have so much dusting to do and planning where everything's going to go.  My new room is a lot longer than this room and I have nothing but hand-me-down furniture and crappy things to move in.

That's where Best Buy comes in.  I can use my discount to get cheaper household stuff, and even some new entertainment center-like furniture for the place.  :crying:  It's so crazy moving all my stuff though.  Though I'm ecstatic about a new place, there's something about moving all of your possessions into boxes to ship out.  I found every yearbook from 1st grade until Senior year.  That huge chunk of my life is now in a box in my empty-ing room.  Oh well, here's a new chapter of my life.  I'm going to celebrate with some leftover beers from last night and a bowl with the pop's   I might even make him drive over and check the place out before we start throwing all of our shit into it.
