The sun has gone mad! Geomagnetic storm in progress, more to come

There is a new sunspot on the suns surface, and the other day it threw out a giant flare (class X-6) which along with the current solar wind is hitting earth pretty hard.

As the sunspot rotates across the sun's surface, towards earth, the chances for an earth aimed solar flare is very high (50% within 24 hours)

If this happens, we are basically Gauranteed to see auroras in the sky over the northern hemosphere.

These chances dont come around very often, so stay tuned!!!

the interesting thing, is that after a flare, the radio wave interruption we hear right away, but the auroras usually dont come for roughly a day to 2 days after the event.

thing is, the charged particles travel through the solar wind stream to get to earth, which takes a decent amount of time, considering the excessively large distance our little planet is, from the sun.

(solar wind can travel up to and above 800KN/second :smile: )

ive been seeing lots of things in the sky. Like those aruas (mini-rainbows?) I saw 2 or 3 last week and 2 rainbows too, without any rain...
maybe its a sign, i sure HOPE so
