on january 1st the Democrats will control the entire Congress
    #6262434 -

montana has been called.. i cant even believe we got a dem elected in that red state. Webb, the dem in virginia leads Allen by some 7,000 votes. there will be a recount but they even said on the news, a recount has never turned up more than a few thousand votes. thankyou Allen for using a fucked up racial slur, used only in a few countries around the world...coincidently allen's mom is from the area where macaca originated. at least he showed his true neocon bigot colors.

now where are the righties?? phred?? zappa? i wanna hear these guys. the ones who think this is a conservative nation. guess what, its not. this is a progressive forward thinking country. conservatives can scare the country once in awhile, convince them that macho redneck thinking is the way to go....it doesnt last though...eventually people see through the bullshit.

we will now build a new progressive majority and take it all in 2008. prepare for the rise of the progressives. we'll call it episode 4 "A New Hope"

Great speech.  But I've heard it all before. I'm in my 50s and in my experience politics is all a bunch of bullshit. :rofl2:

Let's say I've had a steady girlfriend for the last few decades. But in the last few years, she's starting to look a little beat up to me. I still love her, but I feel like I need a change. So I go to a bar, find some slut who, at the moment, is hotter than my girlfriend. I take her to a hotel and do her. The next morning, should she think that I'm in love with her? Should she be plotting our wedding?

I'm thinking.  Trust me when I tell you I'll be chirping up in fairly short order.  Everything is very fresh and I actually have to work sometimes.

Oh, I suspect your idea of bullshit is very different from mine and the notion that Democrats are forward thinking is laughable.

You can call it the "New Toad Hopping" but it will still be a toad.  Just as a preamble, it will be tougher for Bush to get anti-Kelo judges.  Too bad, no?

Without being nailed down, I am right now thinking that hard core religious cons are dead wrong about where the Republicans fucked up. I think they lost the Libertarians, not the Evangelicals. The Libertarians are about 1/3 Democrat in a lot of ways and if the Republicans are going to mimic the Dems on spending and get all bent out of shape over abortion and stem cells while ignoring the border then the Libertarians won't join their party. The big loser for the Republicans was that they spent like Dems and pandered to the beaners, who didn't have votes in the states they lost. Rovian mind ray wasn't all it was cracked up to be, was it?

Speaking of Libertarians...

It is significant that in Montana, the Libertarian candidate Stan Jones received 3 per cent of the vote -- that's far more than the margin of victory of Tester over Burns.

It's not that Americans are any less conservative than before, it's that the Republicans are a lot less conservative than before.

As for Kott's suggestion that Americans are getting more Libbie:

I strongly suggest he review the results of the various voter initiatives (or propositions or referendums or whatever you want to call them) and get back to us. I suggest focusing on the marijuana question, gay marriage issues, gun laws, and anti-Kelo backlash for starters.

The marijuana initiative lost by 4% in South Dakota, which, as far as I'm concerned, is pretty damned close for marijuana. We nixed the abortion ban with a good push, but we voted for the amendment to prohibit legislature that would support civil unions or same-sex marriage, but I think it was with the same margin as the marijuana initiative.

Clearly, the majority of Americans views as they pertain to marriage are not going to instantly change as the issue becomes more relevant and expressed, as the majority of Americans are likely married in the traditional sense.

I'm not sure where exactly the American public is headed as far as pre-conceived notions of political views are concerned, but I do sense that there is some awareness being generated in the American public, and that they, at least for now, are not going to coast while major issues are going down. I think the American public will become more concerned with local politics, and that we will vote more on initiatives. I can only speak for South Dakota, but there were a lot of great issues being addressed with this election, and turn-out was expected to be at 70%. I regret that I was unable to vote due to the fact that I didn't remember to register until I was on vacation two states away the week around the 7th last month. :frown:

I think that it is our responsibility to become more active, and it makes sense that it should occur on a local level. I think that we need to get the lobbyists out of the national level of government and let the politicians we elect rely primarily on our feedback.

Left Coast Lessons
It’s often been said that as goes California so goes the rest of the nation. California was Republican during the heyday of the Democrats. It gave us Nixon, and especially Reagan. It turned Democratic right as the country turned solidly Republican. And now, as much of the country falls to the Democrats, we have a number of solid Republican wins. As of this writing, Arnie has been reelected in a landslide. Solid Reagan conservative Tom McClintock has won a tight race for lieutenant governor. Republicans have also won secretary of state and insurance commissioner, and the race for treasurer is too close to call. Outspoken Bush Republican Chuck Poochigian has had his ass handed to him in his race to be attorney general.

What does this mean? That solid, Reagan-style conservatives, who stick to classical conservative principles of limited government, personal responsibility, and fiscal sanity, can be elected even in a radical left-wing state like California. And, as the rest of the country shows, the evangelical Christian socialist is being kicked into the gutter, even by conservative Christian evangelicals. The Christian socialist president is going to spend the next two years quaking away as a lame duck.

If the GOP has the slightest hint of intelligence it will learn from this election. It will completely, totally, and utterly repudiate the lunatic fundamentalist fringe that it has been kowtowing to for the past six years, and get back to being a party of limited government and personal responsibility which, INCIDENTAL TO THAT MAIN MISSION, also happens to support evangelical religious ideals.

I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again. America is not, nor has it ever been, a liberal country. It’s a fiscally conservative, socially libertarian nation. All the truly great conservative leaders of my lifetime have understood this. Rove looked at the numbers and saw that if they could get the evangelicals to vote they’d win handily. They won, but there wasn’t enough of a mandate to implement the evangelical agenda. So the GOP alienated the libertarians and the centrists in favor of placating the evangelicals. When their support was not rewarded, the evangelicals turned.

The lesson to be learned here? DON’T TRUST THE GODDAMN FUCKING EVANGELICALS. Stick to what works, classical conservatism. Let the religious yahoos do their own thing. They also believe in tax cuts and limited government, so let them vote for you on those grounds, and let their religious belief be incidental.

As goes California so goes the nation. I can only fucking hope.

I didn't know about that Montana thing. It just goes to support my early thought that it wasn't the Dems that won but rather the Reps that lost by being fucking religious panderists. My idea of the Lost Libertarian (copywrite zappaisgod2006) is looking better every minute. Making issues of stem cells, abortion and gay marriage while ignoring the border and not pounding the great economy was just flat out stupid

i think the country is getting more socially progressive...not so much fiscally. if the repoops dumped the neocon christo facist thing and went libertarian they'd be better off in the long run.

libertarians were against iraq. i love that. libertarians arent complete scum like neocons

Wow, I agree with you for once here. Libertarians are a political hybrid. most libertarians would vote for mcCain if he ran I bet, but any other republican candidate would be shunned.

I had not read that. And I disagree with a good bit of it. Notably:

1. I am not a Reagan worshipper. Not by a long shot. He appeased terrorists and allowed one of the worst modern day recessions to occur with his policies, a massive bank default and government buyout. No, I am not a "Reagan conservative"

2. I don't think Bush will be "quaking away as a lame duck". He's still president and he will keep fighting the fight.

3. California as a leader? Puhleeze, I'm still convulsed.

But one thing I do agree with is that we are mostly exactly what he says ; fiscally conservative and socially libertarian. And then there is this beauty; "Let the religious yahoos do their own thing. They also believe in tax cuts and limited government, so let them vote for you on those grounds, and let their religious belief be incidental."
As they should be. Let's take over the party and use those idiots as opposed to letting them run the show and using us. Meanwhile, you may have noticed I have no use whatsoever for Dems at all. They are lost wastes of space.

This Libertarian fully supports the decision to invade Iraq. Libertarian and Neocon are not mutually exclusive.

I think that Libertarians would fall over and fellate Giuliani if he could beat McCain. If only he could, sigh.

This is not the thread in which to rehash for the seven thousandth time the wisdom (or lack thereof, depending on one's point of view) of resuming the hostilities in Iraq. If zap wishes to respond, I'm sure he will do so in a separate thread rather than derail this one.
