Of the shroomery's thousands of users, many have never made a post. There are acconuts like this dating back years.

Why doesn't the shroomery remove these accounts to conserve diskspace? Or would the difference be negligible?

Just curious.

Just because somebody doesn't post, it doesn't mean they don't use their account.

I am not an admin, so if they say different, listen to them instead of me... the amount of disk space required to store a user and their profile is very minimal. Even if each user took 200K (big profile picture) at 10k users that is only around 2 meg of disk space. The users are stored in a database which organizes the data using a btree data sturcture which is very fast at retrieving data, so again there is no real penalty for keeping extra users around.
