that's a shame, just because the LW division is probably the DEEPEST division out of all the weight classes worldwide. They probably have the most amount of highly talented fighters which can be mixed and matched in all sorts of dream bouts.


I'd go so far as to say Pride Bushido is probably the best production in the world, ahead of Pride FC and the UFC.

Hansen vs Azaredo was a great fight... Thank you smoke, i enjoyed watching that allot.. The ending surprised the shit out of me..

first of all it doesnt matter sylvia is the UFC champ. he is not #3 in the world, its just not reallity. sorry. you have to look at who a prerson fights and sylvia is a can fighter.

same with franklin, he fought cans. he was soooo absolutely dominated by anderson, it wasnt even close. i think he is #6 , not top 3... most MMA publications would agree with me.

how the fuck would u put diego in the top 3?? above GSP?? diego hasnt fought anyone decent except Karo. diego has a bright future but right now he doesnt have the credibility. hopefully diego gets a shot at stupid matt hughes after GSP pwns him and wins the belt.

lastly i agree with you about Vera.. he is an amazing fighter, and fun to watch. the guy has been one of my favorties for awhile now. im not sure of his future as a HW, i see him dropping down to LHW where I believe he will be incredibly dominate. he wants to win the belt at HW, then drop down to LHW and win that belt. making him the first person in history to hold both...bas was trying to do that before he was injured. vera will get a title shot if he takes mir. im hoping for a big KO...ya never know though, mir could always get a quick sub

I personally don;t like GSP. I believe GSP isn't going to stand up to Matt..  Then i hope Serra win the UF4 and wins the title. 

And like i said these are who i believe, and others might have a different idea.  :smile:  If i went by what the MMA sites thought  your very right, i would have listed GSP on there, along with a couple others.

Again TIM Syliva may not be a popular pick because he is no where
near Fedor in HW talent.. But being the champion of UFC to me means he deserves to be in the top three.  Sherdog, and others might disagree.. 

Personally i think Frank Mir was the best HW UFC had as a champion, and if he hadn;t gotten hurt you be wondering just who was the top HW is the world today. Because if Fedor is number one, MIR at his best was a close second.

It's cool though we both agree on Brandon Vera.  I think if he stays in HW and works to a title fight he can beat Tim, and there in give UFC  a tough and legitimate totally round champion again.

I have spent the day looking at LW matches, since smoke pointed out the action in them.. I think i have found a few new favorites to cheer.

GSP is fantastic, hands down.  The guy's only loss was to Hughes who he was beating decidedly at the time he got arm-barred.

He never even bled in a fight until his 11th fight :tongue:

Don't know who the fuck Yoon Dong Sik is though.



Dong Sik Yoon is a Korean Judoka with very impressive credentials. I believe he won a gold medal in the olympics a while back.

His first fight they pitted him against Sakuraba, who ended up schooling him in the opening round of the 2005 GP.

He then joined Sakuraba in training and the Takada Dojo and came back to fight Quinton Rampage Jackson in Jackson's final Pride fight at Pride 31. It went the distance, and I gotta say, Dong sik looked GOOD. VERY good. Several times he'd outwrestle Rampage, snatch several submission attempts, and maintained a high level of cardio, despite eating numerous shots to the head.


He looked 1000 times better than his first fight, which is why everyone's curious to see how he'd do against Busta. I still think Busta will win, if he doesn't, then I think it's time for him to call it quits.

I never said GSP isn;t a great fighter, he just annoys the shit out of me kind of like Rich Franklin annoys people..  :smirk:

It's a guy who has a great amount of talent who just seems like he knows it, and seems like a dick.. I watch him on the UF4 and i think he is only is there to see who he might have to face if he beats Matt, kind of like what Franklin did.

Well if he kept up with Quinton Jackson that gives him credibility in my book. Sakuraba definatly wouldn't be a bad training partner/mentor. Good thing November 5th is this weekend!

Penn is a better fighter than Hughes. Hughes just happens to be in MUCH better shape. Watch the fight again on youtube. At first Penn is all over Hughes, he is clearly in control, and would have had the submission if not for time constraints. By the end of the fight though he had nothing left, and Hughes was just breaking a sweat.

Penn definitely outskilled Hughes.


Most Miletich fighters do lack solid BJJ skills, aside from Jeremy Horn. Even Pat himself gets caught still.

First off Matt Hughes and Chuck Lidell are the only fighters that UFC has to offer

You want to look at a pimp figher, Wanderlei Silva is a bad ass, not many Americans know about him, he KO'd Rampage twice who beat Chuck Lidell in a pretty decisive decision, he has destroyed everybody, Kazushi Sakuraba the Gracie hunter, bitch slapped Tito Ortiz, the guys a fucking ape, the only guy I know thats beat him is Crocop

Mark Hunt beat Silva too, but he was something like 80 pounds heavier and it was a split descision.

I never saw Silva fight Ortiz though, I saw him ask Tito to come fight, but I didn't know he actually did, I've got to try to find that fight now.

Can't find a good video of the whole fight, just the end when Tito starts running.

Guess I'll have to order the whole UFC event from netflix or somewhere if I can find it.

Yeah Mark Hunt won a controversial decision against Silva, but everyone thought that decision was a bad one.

He also got KO'd early on in his career once, and once by Crocop, but Silva is light heavyweight and not a true heavy weight.

Anyways Silva scheduled to fight Liddell after the rematch with Ortiz, which is totally bogus, Ortiz hasn't shown any reason in becoming any better, I anticipate Ortiz getting KO'd again.

But Silva challenged Chuck to a fight in which he wanted to fuck chuck is how he put it. This fight will definitely test Chuck because Wanderlei is complete in all areas, just as good in stand up, his foot stomps may have help give him the name the Axe murderer, meaning you just can't camp on the ground, and he has good Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, the reigning middle weight champion of Pride and quite frankly I think will destroy Chuck Liddell, remember Chuck had all he wanted with Rampage and Wanderlei had absolutely no problem in beating down Rampage twice. Babalu Sobral isn't even half the fighter Wanderlei is. Wanderlei is the complete package trust me. He doesn't duck any fight, he's fought Crocop twice, Sakuraba three times, Rampage twice, he fights alot more often then UFC fighters and I doubt Chuck will put him to sleep because Silva has just as good punching power, good chin, good ground game, good submissions, good foot stomps, Muay Thai clinch, the complete package, pretty much the best of the best.

Last I heard that fight was off, if they rescheduled it that would be great because I've been dying to see it ever since I saw Silva come into the octagon that one PPV.

I agree with most of what you said, but Silva has one big flaw. Silva drops his hands when he starts brawling because he can usually rely on hitting his opponent more often and harder than his opponent hits him. He's gotten clocked on the chin and knocked down quite a few times because of this, not that it's knocked him out, but Liddell certainly has the power to do so.

All in all, IF they fight, I think Silva will win, but like I said last I heard negotiations between Pride and UFC didn't work out in that regard.

Thats not anything new, Dana White and Chuck Liddell have been ducking Wanderlei for some time now, he's called out Chuck several times, its no secret that the UFC doesn't like to mix their fighters with Pride. But Wanderlei is a member of both, so I don't know why they'd post-phone that fight. Both MMA organizations can settle on certain rules so both fighters will have an equal opportunity. From what I see from Wanderlei's website he fully expects to fight Chuck.

The UFC IMO are a bunch of pussy's that try to hype up and drag out stupid fights. For example Tito Ortiz and Liddell rematch, I guess Tito would have to instantly take it to the ground as most Pride fighters instinctively do when they know they aren't equipped to stand up.

But Liddell would get sized up and I think something similar would happen such as the Franklin vs A. Silva fight in the fight with Liddell and W. Silva where basically Pride would dominate the UFC.

But who really cares if the UFC has a different format or whatever, Pride fighters see it as off shoot organization that has potential to promote the sport even further. Nothing that the UFC should evade.
