TATOO
    #6226572 -

well, when i graduate, my mom will take me to get a tatoo...i dindt think she had it in her especially since she was the one who suggested it to me.

Well, fellow Shroomerites, i call upon thee to help figure out what i want and where. I am open to any suggestions, though try to keep them non-hippy. im joining the military after i graduate, so having a peace sign on my chest would be kinda bad...

Anyways, thnx in advance for the help!...man i cant beleive im putting my trust into abunch of psychonauts...

The best person to make this decision is you. Come up with something that fits you. Also, be careful with placement, I assume your young, things will shift...

i like koi tattoos, i got a 1/4 sleeve koi and it looks awesome...i love japanese art.  like cherry blossoms and lotus flowers.  they are always beautiful, and meaningful.  my koi is for luck, and foresight. i have always lived near the ocean growing up, so water is a big part of my life and that is represented there too.  its gonna be up to you in the end, find something that means a lot to you and go with that.  it will be with you 1500 years from now when some archaeologist digs you up to study ancient culture.  so choose wisely

isnt koi carp?

theres a legend that if one manages to climb a waterfall, it will turn into a dragon.

perhaps i could get on of those now, and then a dragon like on the other arm when i have completed something signifigant...

still, its an idea i would have never thought of without help.

and its not final, either. i still have months to figure out exactly what i want, im just throwing up ideas at the moment.

yeah a koi is a carp, i have heard something like that too. that would be a really cool tattoo progression from koi to dragon. glad i could help give you some ideas to kick around. i will probably get some more work done on that same arm and make it into a 1/2 sleeve, i think i am going to get a lotus flower near the bottom and a tree hanging over the water at the top. to kind of complete the scene

that would be kinda cool. and thanx for the help.

now i am thinking of other progressions like a seed into a tree or egg to bird...not specifically that but stuff like that....of course climbing a waterfall like a koi is an accomplishment, whilst egg>bird is just growing up....

hmmm.

you should get a peace sign on your chest. that's what all the buddhist monks who join the military and fight in Iraq get - and there are a shit ton of Buddhist monks in the military.

thanks, its always good to get work done by a good artist that fits your style, because their little traits always come out in their artwork. so when you go looking for an artist keep that in mind and check out the photo books of their previous work. thats just my opinion but i am kinda picky about tattoo artists

so, where in the Eight Fold Path does it say to kill people, submit your conscience to superiors, and eat meat?

1. Right Viewpoint - Realizing the Four Noble Truths
2. Right Values - Commitment to mental and ethical growth in moderation
3. Right Speech - One speaks in a non hurtful, not exaggerated, truthful way
4. Right Actions - Wholesome action, avoiding action that would do harm
5. Right Livelihood - One's job does not harm in any way oneself or others; directly or indirectly (weapon maker, drug dealer, etc.)
6. Right Effort - One makes an effort to improve
7. Right Mindfulness - Mental ability to see things for what they are with clear consciousness
8. Right Meditation - State where one reaches enlightenment and the ego has disappeared

hey, i never said i was the ideal budhist. i wont commit completely till i get out of the military. i just hold certain values for now. the ultimate goal is to attain enlightenment, which is a sorta side-hobby as of now. i got to get an education and a steady carreer first. then i can commit to the faith.

also, the eightfold pathodoesnt really work in the military. i cant shoot someone without causing them harm, and as of now, my country means more to me than the eightfold path.

Re: TATOO [Re: In(di)go]

When I was 14, I learned from a friend to make home-made Indian ink with cream and ashes. So, I designed my first tat and put it on my thigh myself with a needle and that concoction.

Since I had already done it, I convinced my mom to sign for me to have it colored, professionally. I got to miss school for it too...Heehee. My mom claimed that I was 16 and didn't have a drivers license/ID yet (In actuality, I was just shy of 15 and legally they can't tattoo anyone under 16...). This was almost ten years ago so that actually worked.

Since then, I've designed my other 3 tats and did a self-nose piercing (after a visit to the dentist. God bless Novocain!)

You should get something that you KNOW you can live with for the rest of your life. The naked chick with steaming genitals might seem like a good idea when you were drunk in Mexico, but when you sober up you tend to regret it :P (Actually happened to a friend of mine, LOL)

If you are artistically inclined at all, it's great to design your tattoo yourself. Flash is great if you want something that other people probably have. Custom tats are more unique.

If you can't draw and you can afford it, the artist can design it for you, or you can hire someone online at a fraction of what you'd expect to pay. Starving artists are a dime a dozen online, and you can get pretty good work done for 20$-50$ easily.

That's about it ^_^ Hope my 'lil bit of experience has helped some!
