I need a credit card fast...which company should I use?

I've never had one before, but the time has come. Which is the best credit card to get? What should I look out for?

Why do you need a credit card fast?  (Just curious)  Capital One is a good credit card company...decent rates, good fraud liability protection, online payment options, etc.  :thumbup:  I have one and like it.

fixed rate.
no annual fee
low interest rate
and see how much they charge for going over your limit

If she's never had a credit card, the likelihood that she will get a "good" interest rate is pretty low, depending on what you think a good interest rate is...unless she has pretty impeccable, established credit.  Those are all good things to look for though  :thumbup:

avoid credit cards - that's my adivce, particulary if you "need one fast"

She may need one fast if she's considering applying for a mortgage sometime in the future and needs the open tradelines to be approved.  Moststandard mortgage companies will not approve you without each borrower (or in this case, her and her husband combined) having 3 tradelines for a minimum or 12-24 months each (depending on where you apply).  These are Fannie Mae rules.  Tradelines can be school loans, car loans, credit cards, etc.  If you don't have 3 open tradelines, you have to provide "alternative" credit, showing cell phone bills, auto loan insurance, rental contracts, utility payments, all paid ON TIME for 12 months straight.  It's a real pain in the ass.  :thumbdown:  And you get a lower interest rate.  But, I'm just speculating :shrug:

For traveling expenses...like gas and motels and stuff.

Ahh. Some of these plcaes it takes abit to get the actual card to you, so hurry up if you need it soon! You can apply online, obviously.

If you don't have a credit history, it might be hard to obtain one.

I got a credit card for that same reason.. now I'm 2000 in debt and I can barely afford the minimum payments.. it sucks.. they are the devil!... unless you have a well paying job...

I realized that the effort it takes to 'get into' credit is a joke when you can spend the same effort making the money to buy things in cash, for less money overall and with little to no worry of fucking your entire life up ... credit card companies are good at selling us, but just like casinos, there's a reason THEY get bigger and more expansive and rich and we don't :wink: it's a scam for those who are impatient ...

I tried several times thus far and have failed. Thanks for reminding me to keep on it. Keep the loaned cash on the low, pay it off an d all is good.

Don't spend it if you can't afford it.

I plan on buying something from Sears or Homedepote on their store credit lines.

Buy something i need and use it to the limit. Then pay it off on time. That would help out making you more appealing to the larger credit lines.

I had a schoole loan and it showed up as nothing on my credit report, it showed up but didn't equate to anything.
