Marijuana alternatives: do any stack up without extracting?

I've recently bought several things online that were advertised as marijuana alternatives. Unfortunately, while some of these things do taste nice to smoke, none of them actually seem to get me high at all. I've tried lion's tail. That did nothing for me and actually had a funky taste when first lit. I've also tried blue lotus and calea although I know the first is typically extracted and combined with wine and the latter is a dream enhancing tool.

Do any of these ethnobotanicals actually get you high without an extraction process being involved? I'm curious about marihuanilla too. Has anyone tried that?

first off, do a bit a research on some of these. Anyone selling calea as a alternative for pot must be out of their minds. Same with blue lotus. The only thing I've encountered that changed my state was red rock, or dragon's blood resin.

Fulni annaconda tobacco is pretty good, also rustica. Not exactly pot like, but it'll change your perception a bit.

marajuanilla works slightly. so does Klip dagga and wild Dagga but I find the most potent part the flowers but they also taste like burning plastic.

Argemone Mexicana is probably a little better than the Daggas though and it tastes better

There is stuff called Amsta-damn! sold by some site online, and at a headshop where I got mine. It gives a surprising stoned feeling after a few hits. Look it up. I don't know what the ingredient is, though, sorry.

Well I'm not sure that the blue lotus and calea were advertised as pot alternatives. It was mainly the lion's tail that was I think. I probably should have worded that differently. And I think lion's tail is the same thing as wild dagga. It did taste a little like plastic. Dragon's blood resin sounds interesting. Amsta-damn sounds like some kind of bullshit that High Times would advertise but if it did something for you then I'll take your word for it. And I'll check out pedicularis too. Thanks!

If anyone else has had a good experience with anything else similar please do tell.

Oh, and I'm a little hesitant to try any kind of tobacco since I'm an ex-smoker. But I don't know much about the different kinds of tobacco. I'd think that as long as it's not processed into cigs for sale in convenience stores then it's maybe less addictive but I don't know.

I know. Amsta-damn sounds cheesy. But the head shop guy, who I solemnly swear was Jay from Jay and Silent Bob, said it was pretty good stuff. And it really was. 3 good hits feels like 1 good MJ hit, but without the mental changes.

I would stay away from the smoking blends with unknown ingredients. You might give sun opener a try (Hemia sanicifolia) It’s very easy to grow. I am a big fan of Kanna. Kanna (sceletium tortuosum) is not really the same as Mj but it make you feel great. The “pharmaceutical grade” Kanna sold on the net is crap. I harvest my kanna in the summer mash it up, but it in a jar in the sun for a week dry it out and damn, I wish it was summer. Good luck don’t know if you’ll find anything you like, but you might have fun trying.

Are you saying that there aren't any smoking blends that stack up to MJ? Or are you saying that the other varieties of tobacco (not processed into cigs) are no less addictive?

Okay, so kanna's a succulent right? But I thought I just read that they have leaves. I didn't think succulents had foliage.

No, I think you maybe misunderstood what I was saying. Is this in reference to the blue lotus and wine? What I read was that lotus is sometimes extracted and then the extract is drank with wine or something to that effect. The egyptians used to do it I guess. Apparently the combination of the alcohol and whatever is in the lotus has a euphoric effect.

What? Succulents are a large part of the plant kingdom. 1000's of which have foliage. Kanna is definitely a succulent. when it is dried out I would say it's about 10% of the fresh weight. there is not allot of good info on this plant, which is a shame. When properly prepared it gives a amphetamine like euphoria. This kanna should not be consumed fresh because it contains a toxin that is easily removed at temps of 120 F or higher. Kanna is not potent unless allowed to ferment for about 1 week.

There's a marijuana alternative called "spice" on the market. Kinda on the expensive side when compared to how much i would be spending on pot, but if i can't get by any and i want to toke up it does the trick. I mix with tobacco though since otherwise you'd be through the packet in only a handful of joints but i'm sure a herbal tobacco blend would do just as well. Only decent alternative i've come across, tastes pretty nice too.

Kanna always gives me this euphoric feeling. Kinda like tripping in a way a little. I get the heat in my stomache and I just feel great overall. Nice body buzz. lasts a few hours. you gotta chew almost a gram though
Argemone Mexicana latex tastes like Licorice Opium and gives a high very similar to mj. Not as intense and lasts 10 minutes or so. Havent tried eating it yet though. very tasty though
Red rock or dragons blood is garbage dont bother, placebo if your lucky

These "ALTERNATIVES" dont work, and you never know exactly wtf it is your smoking, all the names they have on their websites are made up plant names. And they never have any ingredients on the cover, so for all you know u can be smoking grass from your backyard mixed with some bushes and auroma juice.

Please, do yourself a favor and smoke weed instead.
