need help identifying these.........newbie

sup guys, i was outside ealier and was just walkin through the lawn and found these next to the sidewalk. i thought they kind of resembeled some shrooms i have seen before. i am fairly new to this and any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Wow... those look like something special but, judging by habitat, probaly aren't. My guess is some type of Strotophoria(sp?) or Agaricus.
Was there any bluing on them when pinched?
Did you take a spore print? If not, go take one :P

hey man thanks for helpin me out here, um no i did not take a spore print from them. i have already dried them out and was curious if one could still be taken from them and what the best way to going about doing so would be.

Hm... I wouldn't eat them man, espicaly without an ID. Bad idea. You never no, those guys could be death caps. They've got the colors(well, mostly).

Did you notice any blue or greenish spots on the mushroom stems when you dried them?

Ok I'm an idiot, I read your post wrong. You were asking me how to do the spore print, not how to eat them :P haha.. Wow, I feel dumb. Anyway... If they are dry then they cant be printed. But the best way to print a mushroom is cut the stem off as close to the cap as possible, then set the cap gills side down on a peice of paper and put an upsidedown glass over it. Check it the next moring and you will have a print. If the gills look lightly colored, use black paper, if they are dark, use whie paper.

no man these did not stain at all when handling or picking them. the spore print is in the process and ill give ya the results tm.

They appear to be a variety of Stropharia (a non-psychoactive variety).

Man, it took all those guesses and only zerionio got the ID right. I've ID'ed these mushrooms many a times on these boards, they are the velvety Psathyrella/ Psathyrella velutina. They grow in every weilii patch I've ever found, and they grow near the new species I found last year. They seem to always come just before the wood loving psilocybes.
