death of what? the body? "Many illustrations could be given of the mathematical relationship between man's respiratory rate and the variations in his states of consciousness. A person whose attention is wholly engrossed, as in following some closely knit intellectual argument, or in attempting some delicate or difficult physical feat, automatically breathes very slowly. Fixity of attention depends on slow breathing; quick or uneven breaths are an inevitable accompaniment of harmful emotional states: fear, lust, anger. The restless monkey breathes at the rate of 32 times a minute, in contrast to man's average of 18 times. The elephant, tortoise, snake and other animals noted for their longevity have a respiratory rate which is less than man's. The tortoise, for instance, who may attain the age of 300 years, breathes only 4 times per minute.

... The voluntary yogi performs a simple, natural process consciously, not unconsciously like the slow-paced sleeper. The Kriya Yogi uses his technique to saturate and feed all his physical cells with undecaying light and keep them in a magnetized state. He scientifically makes breath unnecessary..."

it is possible. like on mushrooms people say they forget to breathe, they are actually just noticing that they aren't breathing.

Many quaint stories of Sadasiva, a lovable and fully-illumined master, are still current among the South Indian villagers. Immersed one day in samadhi on the bank of the Kaveri River, Sadasiva was seen to be carried away by a sudden flood. Weeks later he was found buried deep beneath a mound of earth. As the villagers' shovels struck his body, the saint rose and walked briskly away.

Sadasiva never spoke a word or wore a cloth. One morning the nude yogi unceremoniously entered the tent of a Mohammedan chieftain. His ladies screamed in alarm; the warrior dealt a savage sword thrust at Sadasiva, whose arm was severed. The master departed unconcernedly. Overcome by remorse, the Mohammedan picked up the arm from the floor and followed Sadasiva. The yogi quietly inserted his arm into the bleeding stump. When the warrior humbly asked for some spiritual instruction, Sadasiva wrote with his finger on the sands:

"Do not do what you want, and then you may do what you like."

The Mohammedan was uplifted to an exalted state of mind, and understood the saint's paradoxical advice to be a guide to soul freedom through mastery of the ego."

what in the fuck are you even talking about.

"you can not breathe for 10 years and the re-enter the land of the breathing"

i don't care how special or exhalted or whatever this person is, but look at a time curve for the survival rates of human cell in an oxygen defficient environment. you will undoubtedly notice how the survival rate drops to zero in much less than 10 years. im not saying a spirit couldn't live on, but as far as effectivley stopping the metabolic need for oxygen. you are 100% incorrect.

I also just noticed that this has nothing to do with cannabis at all. and i think you have pretty mcuh derailed the shit out of this thread.

Want me to quote the bible and tell you the word of God is speaking through me? Don't give me your religious bullshit and try to pass it off as truth.

And what does that have to do with not breathing for 10 years?

you only need oxygen if you use it. and in the Samadhi state your brain isn't functioning/using oxygen

Goddamnit! Instead of some retarded stoner talk I'm getting some equally retarded quasi-religious BS outta this thread.

Hey, you know what really makes me doubt the integrity of anything someone says regarding important religious/spiritual/metaphysical issues? Reading it on a drug messageboard forum. Anybody who has a genuine interest or insight on enlightenment probably wouldn't be too concerned with this or with defending his/her points here.

Here's my pro's for marijuana - OMFG the sex is ridiculous. Maybe I'm just lucky and that's particularly the case for my biochemistry, but coming home to a freshly packed bowl, a beer, and a blowjob is fucking rad. Afterwards video games, internet trivia, and most any other media is enhanced. I guess at heart you'd consider me an "enhancement" smoker. Yes, the back of a $20 bill on weed is quite awesome too.

Cons - I am an incredibly lazy bastard. I have been known to call in sick to work, smoke myself retarded, and then not even have the will to make or get food. I'll have the Chinese place that's a block away deliver! There's nothing like answering the door at 4 pm on a Tuesday wearing the clothes you slept in from the night before. Basically, if I had any motivation to begin with I probably would have lost it all to the amotivational syndrome we all know and love. I also tend to be a bit self-conscious and less than social while stoned - although I think that later part is just another sign of laziness.

If pot was legal and not demonized by our culture then there would be no panic attacks or anxiety associated with its use. anxiety is caused by fear of the unknown. If you know then you won't have anxiety. There are NO negative effects of marijuana that constitute it being illegal. The only negative effects come from ingestion methods. Memory loss can be combatted with herbal supplements and IMO is not near worthy of making this beautiful plant illegal.

Your interpretation of amotivational syndrome is incorrect and disproven in studies www.NORML.org visit the library.
You have conflicting information in your quote you saud "I" meaning you are lazy not marijuana makes you lazy. Show me a credible study that proves amotivational syndrome exists and i'll dig up the study that disproves its existance.

I've had tons of first hand experiences that I cannot trust in the least. Our sense are among the greatest liars ever. Feverish hallucinations, optical illusions, mass hysteria, drug-induced illusions and hallucinations, autohypnotic suggestions, etc.

Every religious nut-job has firsthand experience. Nobody would do some of the crazy shit people do in the name of faith without firsthand experience.

Guess where my tongue was just then... go on... guess.

It was IN MY CHEEK!

Kind of meant the whole "con" as a joke about amotivational syndrome. I'm not familiar with the current literature on it, but I do have a wealth of anecdotal evidence of things I didn't do on time because I got stoned. That's probably more a product of being high, forgetful, and enjoying what I'm doing too much to do work. I do think that sitting around and getting stoned enhances my laziness, but I'm not exactly against that and the "sitting around" probably contributes a great chunk to it too.

You have no idea what you're talking about either. Anxiety attacks aren't brought on because the plant is illegal. I've had many panic attacks from weed about SHIT going on in my LIFE.

Don't try and tell ME what I have felt because YOU have NO fucking idea.
