A really cool Space version of "google earth".

Have been taking a cabbage astronomy class, the lecturer recommended this program, and its fucken cool. Celestia Download Site
You can watch the planets move in real time, or speed them up. All the planets/moons are from satellite photos, and there are also things like haleys comet and the space station.
Then you can zoom way out, out of the milky way and go to other galaxies.

I just saw there's the "Celestia Motherload" http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/ , with extra stuff like the space shuttle etc chucked it.

The class is real interesting, and all tests/exams are multi choice. :grin:
Its the easiest class at university! I love it.

I'll check that celestia thing out later, it looks pretty cool.  And yea, last spring semester I had an intro to astronomy class and it was excellent. Easy tests with interesting material.

My friends and I had some excellent conversations about black holes, the beginning of the universe, and whether the universe will expand to infinity, bounce back to nothing, or just stop.

Yeah - I think it will go all the way out, then all the way back in again, making a cycle. Some of this stuff just too fucked to think about.

Like that Monty Python song, - our galaxy contains 100 billion star, its a hundred thousand lights years side to side, and our galaxy is only one of millions of billions...
