Fun things to do or see in San Fransisco?

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to San Fransisco next month. I'm looking for advice on cool things to do or see in san fransisco. I checked out some stuff from a travel book, but haven't read it thouroughly yet. Of course I know that I should see the Golden Gate Bridge and stuff, but I'm looking for some less-than-obvious ideas. It looks like lots of the 60's historical headshops and stuff on Haight St. have closed. I'd love to see some cool bars, good live music, or fun things to do. Meet some local hippies. Maybe take a tour that tells about the history from the 60's movement, bands, etc..

I also read in the travel book that there's places that dispense medicinal marijuana. How strict are they on giving it out? What information is required from a person before they sell medicinal mj? Got any tips?

The entire SF trip isn't exclusively for drug related hippy fun. I'd like to see a cool museum, find some good shopping or unique gifts for people back home, and just generally have a good time. We'll only be there for 3 or 4 days, so I'd like us to be able to make the most of our time there.

If anyone live in the area, or knows some great spots that are too good to miss, please post them. Thanks so much. Perhaps if someone gives such a good suggestion that completely blows our minds, I may reward that person with some free ethnos, seeds, or something that I have around once I get back around the end of September.

Sutro Baths is always fun

SF Zoo, just because

Haight

Castro (espcieally check out Hot Cookie, makes bitchin desserts, located on market and Castro if memory serves)

Laurel Village has some high class cafes

I'll think of more stuff later

the wax museum at fishermans wharf is pretty cool.

you'll need a cannabis card/doctors note to get into the dispenseries.

gota go get checked out by a doctor and then pay a few hundo
not for tourists
but you can get bud easily anywhere

i would go to haight but dont count on being blown away by peace and love. just go there for the pizza and drugs (fat slice, best pizza in town)
check out the warf and the enbarcadero.
head over to the marin headlends for some spectacular veiws nd photo ops
come to my house and smoke a j
ill think of more later.

Mission District is cool. You could also go to the metreon and check out there imax and such

SF is great. You gotta check out the Metreon I havent been there in years but when i went it was a month or so before they opened it to the public. My dad was on the painting crew. They had this familys day for all the workers.

Haight St, is a definate must. Also Golden Gate Park

Peir 39,, Chinatown. Theres just so much. LOL

Also take a quick hike up Turtleback Hill (stairs begin at 16th and Moraga, and other places, but I forget them)

Absolutely astounding view, no matter the weather or the time

And I can't think of anything at the moment, but Pacifica has a beachfront Taco Bell that got voted number 9 or something for best fast food places to eat at (thanks Food Network!)

Hippy hill is a decent spot if you want to get baked. It's right at the entrance of Golden Gate Park. You can recognize it by the large amounts of marijuana smoke drifting over it.
