Contaminated Fruits?

Well, AFOAF has an experimental casing going with some composted dung bought recently. This was spawned with ground up PESA, and allowed to colonize. When the colonization was complete, the block was flipped over (because of tapering sides) and cased with vermiculite. Note, the tapering sides make it such that, as the casing shrinks, no further casing material will have to be added.

Ok! so.. it has produced many aborts.. a couple of normal looking fruits... and now in the midst of a 2nd and 1/2 flush, it has produced some medium sized fruits (ranging from 1 to 3 inches) which seem to have been aborted maybe? or something... they seem to have developed a darkened ring around the bottom of the cap (caps still attached to stalk), and have also halted their growth. Note also, that the veil was no where near fully extended at this point when the darkened ring developed... so I doubt highly it has anything to do with spores. But then again it might.. who knows...

does anyone have a clue about this?

You could have contamination inside the block. Collect the shrooms and make a hole, you'll see then.
Once i had halted growth at that stage, the shrooms began to to get dark and developed some very small white hairs on the fruitbody, the cake was contaminated on the inside.
