So apparantly George Mcconnel got the axe tonight.
    #5923064 -

Sam Holt and John Keane are filling in as I type in Louisville,KY.

I'm sure I'm not the only Widespread Panic fan on this board, and to the rest of you, this is big news.

George Mcconnell joined Widespread Panic in 2002 as lead guitar after Michael Houser died of cancer.

he was previously of the Kudzu Kings and was also hand picked as successor by Houser.

unfortunately he's been the target of alot of ridicule from alot of die hard fans, I personally don't think he's awful, but he's no Houser.

Sam Holt was Houser's guitar tech, and he plays through Houser's amp. Keane has played support pedal steel for years.

there's been talk that Mcconel was calling it quits, apparently this is the night.

This is big news if it's true. I liked George but this could be interesting.

Michael Houser was such a killer guitarist!
My buddy got me into Panic a few years ago.. I'm glad he did!
This news is indeed interesting!

I saw Widespread Panic on acid several years ago and I kept thinking I had to pee so I was at the back of the crowd alot waiting for the the porta potties to open. It was a fun show, though.

iv only seen panic once
i was very very very uninpressed with the lead guitarist. diddnt know his name till now.
diddnt realy bother me, im not one to let my critical ear get in the way of a good show. i had fun but his guitarlines where all the same and all played with no intesity.
i went to see them for dave skools anyhow
