so about 6 months ago i had my car in at a shop...i asked them to do a free inspection of my brake pads while they were at it.
they tell me i need new ones and such..
so now 6 months later i bought the pads and have my car up on ramps and im takin the lug nutts off when i get to the "keyed" lug nutt and my fuckin key don't fit it anymore...im sittin there fiddlin with the stupid thing when i finally take a flashlight to it and low behold they took there fuckin nascar 10,000 rpm lug nutt remover to the thing without the KEY.....so now that fuckin thing is stripped and it ain't comin off.
so now im tryin to deside how i should go about fuckin these guys over for this...i had my whole weekend planned out for this brake job and now its ruined.....and i don't want them to ever touch my car again.
and im sure they are going to lie there ass off when i talk to them...say it was some other shop....BUT my car has been in storeage all this time and has maybe 100 miles put on it.....but im sure they will still say it was in another shop or somethin....
the only way i see to get it off isl prob either hammer my key onto the nutt and hope that works....or torch it off. plan A ruins my key, and plan B well it will fuck my paint on the rims and the stud.....anything else close to it.
SO what would you do in this situation???

I wouldn't be in that situation. I have more brains than to (1) try to take the wheels off a car on ramps and (2) let a shop fuck up my locking lug nuts in the first place.
However, you should probably just jam a socket onto the suckers and screw 'em off, after you have the car on jack stands instead of ramps.

Yeah...also I do my own brakes. I used to get screwed by mechanics years ago and decided to take it upon myself to fix my own damn car.
Now it's like a hobby for me.

yeah um more brains than to take the wheels off on ramps??? k, my situation is a little unique in that my car sits so low to the ground you cnan't get a jackstand under it....therefore you HAVE to run it on ramps then jack it up, then put stands under it.
so yeah i guess i have some "brains" and this will mark the 100th time someone has called me an idiot on here and i have to say its getting a little OLD!!!

i was scrapping my old mustang and i couldn't find my lug key so i got a chisel and hammer and beat a notch in the 9'o'clock position on the edge of the lug, i then used the notch and erected the chisel 45-degrees and hit the notch in a downward motion to loosen the lug. i used vice grips after that to get it off. just make sure the other 3 or 4 lugs are on tight before you do it. get that garage to buy you a set of lug locks too. I'm almost ASE certified, sounds like the fag who was twisting your lugnutz wasn't...

You know, my automotive professor told us about how to remove a stripped nut, and none of them were very pretty. I can't recall all of the ways, but some of them were pretty damn devastating.
Basically, according to him, the solution is to NOT strip a nut.
Next time you use a mechanic, make sure they're ASE certified. That doesn't mean look for an ASE logo on the shop, that doesn't mean shit about the guy actually working on your car. Ask if the person actually working on it is ASE certified. If so, they're a lot more likely not to be some dumbass who happened to own a set of tools and got hired.

removing calipers from car??? [Re: Konnrade]

god so a few hours later now i finally got that dam nutt off, i took a hammer to my key and it went on there then i turn it and it would strip off of it...went threw than a couple hundred times and finally i hammered it on cockeye'ed and it got jammed on there good, took alot of elbow grease to get it off too, then took it the reast of the way off wobbleing.
but now my key is stuck to the lug nutt, and i still have 2 keyed lugs on my back tires which i need this key for...so they might not be comin off for a while lol.
does anyone by chance have any experience taking the caliper off the roter?
my chilton says to put a c-clamp on the outer brake pad, and the other end of the clamp ...not really sure where it goes but i guess on the back of the caliper anywhere....i just don't see how putting pressure on the pad is gunna make it come off....and i have to buy a clamp tomorrow i guess.
there's 2 bolts on the back of the caliper....if i just take them out will it all come off? i would have done this already but im tired and don't wanna fuck it up right now.
then putting it back on right im sure will be a bitch, this is a dual piston caliper by the way.

I wish I could help, but I know jack shit about brakes. I just know how to do brake inspections, I can't actually service them.
Nonetheless, be careful. Tiny mistakes with brakes have a tendency to cause disproportionately fatal results

ok i lied i had alittle energy left, once the tires are off its amazing easy, its just 2 bolts on the back of the calipers<--which are what hold the pads on.
the pistons <--which have a happy home in the calipers are what the c clamp is for...you have to push these little bastereds back into there hole to get the new pads on.
so tomorrow i buy a c clamp
good day
and hey why cann't the shroomery have a car forum??? i think its an amazingly good idea actually i might email someone about this......its just it seems here on this website whenever someone needs help with somethin people always have lots of guides and picturres....and when i googled it all i found was one or 2 hits that weren't trying to sell me something...and they were for other models or just didn't sound right.
p.s. TM why are you such a negitive person? take your pains and misery out on someone else plz im tired of being your bean bag for the day!...i mean clearly i need this after workin on my car all dam day.

Should be two bolts holding the caliper to the rotor. Remove the bolts and pry off the caliper. Remove the brake pads from the caliper (If they haven't already fallen off)open up your brake fluid resevoir after cleaning off the cover to prevent dust from getting in. Take your "C"' clamp and and position it to push the piston back into your caliper. Don't quote me but, I've had to use a brake tool that I've rented from the AutoZone before for this, but I think it was just for the rear disk brakes. Anyways, push the piston back in, replace pads, reassemble and replace the cover on the brake fluid resevoir. Good Luck. It's best to watch someone else do it the first time.

Also dont forget the anti-squeal gel, some new pads will squeal without it. It sounds like you are having fun.

My sincere apologies.
I was in a shitty mood.
I'm glad you found out how easy it is to replace brake pads.
Here's a tip:
Don't waste your money on a "C" clamp. Just wedge something between the old outer pad and one of the pistons, then squeeze the other one in with large channel-lock pliers, then wedge that one and squeeze the other.
Happy motoring!
