Glass Blower? pipe

I acquired a pipe at 10klf. Nice inside-out paint job. The only problem is that it's totally round. Doesn't sit flat ever. Round bowl, round mouthpiece.
I don't know glassworking, but I know materials and stuff.
Can I soften the glass and flatten the bottom of a bowl to make it flat?
I'd appreciate some input before I try it. I like the paint, size, shape and whatever. I don't want to fuck up a nice pipe on my first attempt.

Sorry, there's likely no good outcome from reheating that pipe, probably just shattering glass. Once it's done, it's done. But sir magnifique is on to something, cold work could possibly modify your piece sufficiently. Good luck!!!

Maybe take a piece of wood and make some sort of stand to sit it on?

I dunno what else to recommend...

I know nothing about glass blowing, but I was going to suggest adding some sort of glass 'feet' (think the feet on a bathtub) if it's possible to add more to the pipe at this point. Could look really cool actually.

by coldworking I mean grinding or cutting after the pipe is made, using the right tools there should be no problem...

I took a few glass classes in college, one of which was glassblowing. I didn't get to make any pipes but I learned a lot about glass in general. Having said that, I wouldn't recommend heating that up to add glass feet or anything. Glass requires a decent amount of time to cool down, in a controlled environment, or it cracks. If you are going to sand a flat spot, be sure to use a wet sander, otherwise it heats up and cracks.
I've never glued anything to glass personally, but a couple of classmates of mine have, and it seemed to work out pretty well for them. I believe they used epoxy, that's what I would try.
This method is the easiest and it's fairly reversible - should you screw it up or hate how it looks/feels afterwards.
Anyway, hope that helps!
