got back this morning from phil tour. had gone out east for some of the phil/grab shows, then headed back to michigan, picked up a car, and went to see bobby in philly, followed by ween in buffalo, on the way to catch back w. phil tour in columbus.

unfortunately had to come back to mind the company i work for, as my boss is going to oregon in a few days.

been back not even half a day, and already miss the lot.

thank fucking god for the grateful dead.

so from somone that wouldnt mind doing something similar one day, IE large roadtrip to see some bands, how the hell do you afford it??

i think i paid a total of 40$ for tickets (if i had paid face at every show, it would've been $300+) - got miracled at most of the shows, traded for some tickets, and had to pay $20 twice (for tickets with a face value of $40 each)

sold beer and various other work to pay for gas/food/otherfunthings.

if i didn't have to go back to work, i could have stayed on tour and actually made money, thanks to some kids kicking me yayo for way cheap..

So is Phil/Bobby where its at? I miss the scene horribly nowdays. I did notice phil played in a city very, very close to me in the past few days and I terribly wanted to go but prior commitments and a little fear kept me away. I havent been on the scene for ~10 yrs now so I didnt know what to expect so I didnt make an effort to go.

likewise, k_c! i looked around for you after the show on sunday to say farewell, but there were just a ton of people everywhere. i really wish i could make it to 10klf, but put way too many miles on my sister's old car to try for it.

i don't know how i'm going to be able to survive this scenester over-run town until winter tour :frown:

gratos - i'm sure the scene is different today than 10 years back, but check it out sometime, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. maybe 98% of the people i met were genuinely kind folk.
