Holy fucking roadtripping

Man, it's been a long summer and it's not even close to over yet.
I just got back to Columbus from Milwaukee. Was there for a night, before that I was in Chicago since Friday. Went to Saturday and Sunday of Lollapalooza. Then on Monday night I was out with my friend and he ran into an old high school friend who said he was in town for Phish. I thought to myself "Shit, I didn't realize that was tomorrow" then remembered OMR had an extra ticket. So I got in touch with him and he still had it. Went to Phish on Tuesday (first show, I was rather impressed. Specifically with the second set.)

So yeah, went to that then Milwaukee on Tuesday when I woke up. Got nice and drunk there with Madtowntripper.

Before THAT I was in Jersey/NYC for All Points West and to see family and friends. Met up with Vandago, Andrews, and a few of Vandago's friends on that Saturday. 'Twas an... interesting time. From there I went to York, PA to stay with a friend for a night. That takes me up to Thursday I drove to Columbus for a night then up to Chicago that Friday.

Man what a fucked up timeline I just told that all in.

Anyway, I'm gonna crash here tonight after I go out in a few minutes, then tomorrow I'm gonna drive up to Syracuse and hopefully I can find a Phish SPAC ticket on Craigslist. If not I'll just go anyway and see what I can make happen there. Then back to Syracuse for my friend's 21st. And I think the weekend of the 8/21 is Locus' two night deal at Nelson Ledges.

So with all that I've done in the past two weeks coupled with Rothbury and another trip home I made at the end of July I've done about 5,000 miles. Fuck I need to get an oil change tomorrow before I leave, and get some other shit fixed. By the time summer is done I'll have many miles under my belt, especially if I trek it to All Tomorrow's Parties in Monticello, NY.

I've been planning on going ever since Dark_Star told me about it. Just couldn't remember what weekend it was.
So I guess I'll have a weekend to breath in Columbus... which I've actually been intentionally avoiding lately :lol:

Fee: It says it's sold out but Chicago was too but I could swear they were selling tickets at the box office. I think I heard someone say they were more than original face? Maybe I'm crazy. Check whatever Craigslist is closest to you, there are a few in Syracuse that are going for face (which I would pay), but I'm not there yet so I can't.

Dan Deacon was fucking ridiculously awesome.
I checked out Glitch Mob and Deadmau5 at the DJ stage and I was a little disappointed. It just wasn't loud enough, and Glitch Mob was during the day, they are much more suited for a night slot at a fest were you camp at.

Tool was good, not as good as their All Points West set but the difference was marginal. I was surprised with Deerhunter because it started out slow but the front man is a fucking trip. Jane's Addiction wasn't terrible for the bit I saw. You can tell they can work a stage (Farrell and Navaro's giant egos work great at a stage and time like that.) Animal Collective was fucking terrible. I will never pay money to go see them EVER. Extremely disappointed in their live set and their DJ set.

As a whole (or at least as a 2/3 since I didn't go Friday) it was probably the worst of the three Lollas I've been to. Last year had Radiohead and Rage, two years ago had Daft Punk and the scheduling conflicts weren't as bad those two years. It was, however, far and ahead of All Points West. Not a waste of time, but not amazing. Barring a great lineup and no terrible scheduling (this year had a great great lineup and completely ruined it with AWFUL scheduling) I probably won't be going back. I don't regret going though.
