Shit, why not?
The US Army already released their own recruitment strategy "video game", called "US Army" or something like that. You can download it from the Army web site.
So it's just more hypocrisy for them to get their panties in a bunch over any other group doing the same thing.

Further making people think that going to war is just like a videogame...and the fact that they made it a free download..
shit, it's like getting offered a free sack of drugs to get you hooked after the first time. only, once you buy in completely, you give your life away to their cause.

Well thats not exactly the cases here. The pentagon officials are clearly twisting things around to get what they want. You dont even have to be a gamer to realize the stupid shit their saying. I've been a gamer of various games including Battle Field 2 and I gota say im kinda pissed the path the pentagon is taking this. But yet I cant help but laugh to see what kind of new lows our leaders are taking.

Yeah I actually made that last post after only viewing the first minute or two of that newscast.
It's quite obvious that the Pentagon guys don't know what the fuck they're talking about
For anyone who doesn't want to watch the vid: the Pentagon found a video on the net that someone had made of various action scenes from the game "Battlefield 2". All the scenes were from the actual stock video game - no modifications were made.
Some of the scenes involve shooting down, killing, or blowing up US Army soldiers...because in the game you can play against the US (as either China or Middle East Coalition).
The Pentagon found this video on one or two terrorism sites, and because of that they assume that (a) terrorists made the video (which they didn't, it was just a guy who plays and likes BF2) and (b) terrorists are using the video to recruit new terrorists.
They also claim that the terrorists altered the video game so that you could kill US Army guys....but as anyone who's played BF2 knows, that's part of the original game. Even EA is on record stating that the video in question is a video of the stock video game - without any modifications.

I say: LOL.
First off its all a gag blown out of proportion by "intelligence people" who are dumb as asses. I think a kid could find out in an hour's worth of googling that it wasn't as alleged.
Interesting note: judging from the accent of the "arab" I am almost certain that he's spent much time in Holland, he's got the typical "dutch lisp" you get when most Dutch people speak English.
It would be interesting if the communities of any nations could participate in such wargames. If it is OK that Americans play wargames wiping out let's say Iraqis, then it should be OK that Iraqis can join them on the same game servers to try kick their asses in a balanced game.
There's an AS-TRO-NOMICAL difference between people playing a wargame and people carrying out violent fantasies. World of warcraft is out for over a year now, how many ballistic trolls bearing big axes have you seen running across town? The Trolls and Elves and Tauren are all around you. They stop at a red light and hold the elevator so you can get in. Gamers are just normal people, it shouldnt be made into something sinister that it is not.
Trend, is that US Army game fun to play without being bothered by recruiting tactics? I'd love to play a good realistic wargame but refuse to pay one cent for it!

If you get Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and a crack you can have the multiplayer experience for free and it's a lot of fun being a Nazi and sniping American Soldiers as the storm the beach at Normandy. It's also fun to storm the beach...but the mortality rate seems higher. ha.

Yeah terrorist in counter-strike has been around for a long time. If you ask me that would of been a better choice of a game since they straight up call you terrorist.

I think this is just another case of people trying to vilify video games, it's just one idiotic assumption after another from the government representatives in that video. Just like wiccen_seeker said, it's just stupid to assume that because people act out a *fantasy*, be it a war with orcs and humans, or a war with the US and a Middle Eastern Coalition that doesn't even exist, they will continue to act as if the context is acceptable in real life. I remember reading a quote by the president of Nintendo that really applies here: "Video games don't influence behavior, if they did we would all be in dark rooms running from ghosts and eating pills right now."
-------------------- The story goes, or the way that I was told There was a king that always felt too high and then he fell too low And so he called all the wise men to the hall And begged them for a gift to end the rises and the falls But here’s the thing, they came back with a ring It was simple and was plainly unbefitting of a king Engraved in black, it had no front or back But there were words around the band that said Just know: This Too Shall Pass
