Hello/Pipe cleaning

Hey there, my names Dylan and I guess I'm new here...

Anyway, I just have a quick question, has anyone else had problems with losing colour in their pipe after cleaning it with rubbing alcohol? I soaked mine (hand blown glass) in 99% rubbing alcohol for about a day, and it did a damn fine job getting all the tar out, however a shiny, orange coat on the inside completely disappeared, leaving it fairly clear...any advice on avoiding this?

Its called fumeing. Its a layer of vaporised metal gold, silver etc.
Its hard to see when the dark resin back ground isn't present. After smoking a few times you should notice the colors coming back.
