Shelf Life of Substrate Jars

I mixed up some substrate and sterilized it in jars, PF style, about a month or two ago, and haven't inoculated yet. I just got spores. Is it ok to use these jars? How long do they last after being sealed and sterilized? They show no signs of any kind of contamination.

if i were you i would re-sterilize just to be safe.
but i dont think theres anything wrong with NOT re sterilizing, afterall old ladies use this same method to jar their peaches for months if not years.

I would toss the old sterilized substrate and mix up fresh. My fear would be that some kind of bacterial contamination had been growing in the center of the jars. Even though resterilizing will kill the bacteria, the toxins the bacteria produce will be left behind. I would also be a bit worried about the moisture level in the jars being off after setting for a month (I use filter disks which make this more of a problem).

I donno for sure... theoretically they could last several years, but in practice I would not innoculate anything that has set for more than a day or two. I have seen the same advice come from others on here that are much wiser and more experienced than I.
