Microwave Sterialization?Anyone tried it?

hey, im a newbie here and i was wondering if anyone has tried microwave sterialization and had sucess?any responses will be greatly appreciated.thanks

my first try at a dung bulk tek i used my microwave to saralize a quantity of dung, then spawned it with brf cakes, it colonized well but jsut befor it was 100% i saw a small spot of green. i took the try out and cut it up the inside was ok but i found 4 very very large colonizations of green, im not sure if it was some green laying dormant in the try or if it was spores introduced later, i supose i would have suceeded but i made the mistake of trying to colonize the dung in sealed ziplock bags, i belive if i put the dung in the try and colnized directly it would have been a scucess

Microwave works fine for PF style cakes, I have 100% survival rate nuking cakes up to 4 (1/2 pint) at a time on max (850 watts) for 4 minutes. Put in a very small dish of water along with the cakes and don't go too long. I've made that mistake and dried the cakes out so bad nothing would grow in them.

As for whole grains and manures, etc, I don't know how reliable the micro is. If you're going to try the micro with those substrates you might want to do fractional sterilization (nuke it 3 times with a day between each time).

BTW, I hope I don't have to add this, but I will just in case: Don't use canning jars with metal lids! Use gladware for microwave sterilization!

thanks, Im going to be trying that out as soon as i get my spores from the hawkseye and i'll be taking pictures of everything to keep you guys updated(as soon as i get it fixed).
