Ah yes, the ridiculous notion that it is desire which determines the outcome of a close sporting event. "If only we'd wanted it more we would have won." "We won because we clicked the heels of our ruby slippers harder and prayed more."

This besmirches the integrity of every losing team. "They lost because they lacked the will to win and didn't work hard enough."

Bullshit. Sometimes the opponent is better. Sometimes the opponent gets a lucky break. Sometimes the opponent has the slight advantage of playing at home. None of these are "moral" failures, like "laziness" or "lack of desire". Sometimes they were just not quite good enough or lucky enough and there is no shame in that. To impute a character flaw as the cause of an OT loss, or most any other loss, is insulting to both sides. Insults the loser because it besmirches their character. Insults the winner because it discounts their ability.

I hate hearing that shit.
