Woot! Got a job

After nearly 2 months of looking and getting very discouraged - I finnaly got a job offer! Just a matter of faxing around forms / etc and getting some paperwork done. But, summer student job with the city, in the telecommuncations dept doing inventory/programming/database work/reports/etc, 17.47/hr.
*dance*
I woke up this morning feeling super bummed out about my lack of employment, and was great to get back from the gym with a job offer waiting in my voice mail

yep! I'm hyped. My job last year was 17/hr which let me pay my rent ($600 month), pay my bills, pay for food/etc, and still be able to party and have a pretty active social life, and still get money put away to put towards Tuition, now - getting a little bit more -- I'm happy!
After being unemployed since Aug (I made the choice to not work during the school year, although I did do a few contract things here and there), it'll be nice to start seeing my bank balance go up instead of go down.
If I play my cards right and dont go spend-crazy this summer, I should be able to graduate Univ debt free.

Well, you know 17.47/hr ain't much, but it's a start! You might walk away with $500 a week. That's enough for drugs and a cheap pad sure 'nuff!

Last year I was making less, and still covered rent, bills, food, partying, and still managed to pocket away quite a bit towards Tuition and take a nice vacation to Montreal.
I'm pretty good when it comes to managing money. Mind you, some aspects in my life are a bit sucky -- all my funiture is mishmash hand me downs, and really wish I could get enough saved up to start buying funiture so that my apartment doesnt look like a college students dorm room - but meh, that can come after I graduate
also, my apartment is pretty big - its actually more space then I need, in a great location - walking distance to school, 'downtown' Toronto is about a 20 min walk away, I am pretty much within walking distance to everything I need.
Its pretty rare that I take public transit anywhere anymore, let alone have a need to drive (I dont own a car, dont need a car, dont want a car).
For a summer position, 17.47/hr is pretty sweet. For a full-time career once I graduate? I will be aiming quite a bit higher

Its Canada, I doubt it -- if they do, I'm fucked. Did ectasy two weekeneds ago, smoke pot pretty much daily, and lord knows what's cut into the X.
Bah, I should of put May 29th as my avail start date instead of immediatly, now I'm starting on Thursday, and was hoping I could of fit in a daytime LSD trip in celebration of a new job, but dont think I'd wanna trip during the day tomorrow and try and get myself together enough to have a 1st day of work the day after.

Na that would be a recepie for disaster. Save it for the weekend and go to the job high at the most for the first few days until you see how it's going to be working there.

yep, exactly -- going out to see Richie Hawtin, Magda, Troy Pierce & March Houl this Friday, was going to do X, but rather not show up for work at a new job sketchy so early into it. So, I'll do the LSD that night instead.
Normally I'm pretty good the day after an LSD trip, but rather not risk comming in all fried out of my head on the 1st day of a new job -- and then having that worry on my head the entire time I was tripping.

and another nice thing about the job: Its within walking distance to work.
Took me 40 mins to get there on public tranist this morning, took me 25 mins to walk home, how the fuck is it that it takes me longer on transit?
meh, but that'll save me around $100 a month or so, and I like walking alot.
