They are generally nicer then most bongs ive hit. They really rip, I dont know what it is about it, maybe the glass or something, but they knock me on my ass every time. One hit from a roor had me stumbling around for a few hours.
My personal opinion is if you have the money, and can comfortably drop a few hundred bucks, then go for it. I would only say its worth it if you can stand the impact on your budget. If it seems in any way expensive to you, id definitely just go for a cheaper bong.

first off, your sig is halarious.
Anyway, me and a friend are gonna start renting a place together, and a roor was gonna be the first thing we bought after scraping up first and last months rent, and security deposit, and i guess furniture...
actually after all that stuff were gonna be broke as hell...
i guess this wasnt a very well planned idea.

The new ones aren't the same quality as the older ones. I have an old one, (5+ years) but I wouldn't spend money on the new ones. They chip badly around the base now. There are a few other threads on this. If you search you can get more info.

you can also get a phx, pure, or a bluedot for a little cheaper. Phx bongs with perculators are really smooth hitting tho, but Roors set the standard. Get a diffusor if you're getting a RooR. And if you're thinking about dropping 500 on a roor, step up to a volcano instead This EHLE bong looks good and hit's pretty well for the $$ http://forum.grasscity.com/showthread.php?t=95061

The only thing that I would fear with anything like a roor is breaking it. Especially with more expensive pieces. There is a $5,000 bong type smoking thing at a headshop in my town. The damn thing is all glass, about 5 feet tall, with the most intricate glass work Ive ever seen. The tubes and everything are extremely intricate.
The thing with things like this, and even roors, are one day, if you get to baked, one slip up, and SMASH. Goodbye $500! or $5,000!
