calcium carbonate?

ok, so i was in PetSmart the other day and was in the reptile aisle when i saw this bag. on the bag is says "Calci-Sand Pure Natural Calcium Carbonate Substrate". as i read further, it says it is specifically designed for reptiles. it's used as sand in reptile terrariums but its pure calcium carbonate. so can i still use this calcium carbonate to buffer the pH in my soil or will it have no affect at all? do any of you know?

how much is it? And can you take a picture, i use crushed oyster for 40 cents per lb but i have to powder it myself. Sounds great man

theres a 2lb bag of it for $4.99 and a 5lb bag for $9.99 ill put a picture of it up later
