 NEED (quick) HELP WITH LIBERTY CAPS!!!!

Hiya all,
I've been storing some 500 liberty caps dry in a jar for about 4 months. I got back to them and they all have patches of a fine white powder on them (almost like icing sugar or cocaine!)
What is this substance? IS it poisionous?
Can I still eat these if I preserve them in honey?
Is there any way of saving them otherwise?

Sounds like mold. Perhaps you didn?t dry them completely?

Sounds like mould allright. Drying them is easy. Keeping them them dried is another story! I suggest you take a small package of dessicant gel, like you would find in a box of new shoes, and tape it onto the underside of a canning jar lid. Store your dried mushies in the jar and keep the jar somewhere's safe, not outside in the damp shed.
Of course, it's just a suggestion, I could be wrong, someone correct me if I'm mistaken, IMHO....

I had some libs that ended up the same way. I ate them and lived, but that's me and I'm a shroom eatin' god. I would caution you on eating anything with mold. Chances are it's nothing that will hurt you, it might even be mycelium from the libs themselves, but taking chances is obviously risky.
