Im just wondering which one is more effective to use
I understand how a glovebox works, but I don't really understand the science of how the flow hood works

a flow hood is better but also more expensive. it works by forcing sterile air onto your work area thereby removing contaminants in the air...

Actually a glovebox can do the same thing if you have fans and filters built with it.

A glovebox can never rival a flowhood, although one can certainly screw up a glovebox by placing fans and filters on it.
A still air glovebox can be used with the same success rate as a laminar flow hood, but is much more cramped to work in. A flowhood gives you a sterile work space that is big enough for your elbows to move around in. RR

A simple but perfect working Glovebox you can construct yourself for a couple of Dollars while a Flow Hood will cost much more (mine was about 250 Dollars).
A Flow Hood is more comfortably to work with and will change your whole grow room to a single Cleanroom, because it cleans all the air around. You will have more space to work using a Flow Hood. But principally you can do the same with both.
For a beginner i would advise to start with a glovebox. After a certain time and experience it is ok to plan a flow hood.

You said it! I worked many years using only a GB with 100% success but I'll tell ya G2G's in a GB sucks ass compared to a 24"x48" flowhood! LOL
