ty I am thinking about building this flow hood but am not sure if I want to use fans or an air compressor.  fans would definantly be less noise.  Not sure yet but I will build it this weekend

Ok so I bought one of those round fans from home depot today, I bought a 250 CFM one just to be safe  and the thing sucked  it definitively wasn't near 250 CFM.  Even when i rested it right on the filter it couldn't blow air through it.  I don't really know how powerfully 250 CFM is but i don't think it was especially since I am supposed to only need a 100 CFM blower.  I'm looking at this now and am wondering if it will work...its kind of small http://cgi.ebay.com/220VAC-DOUBLE-BLOWER-150-CFM_W0QQitemZ380037840380QQihZ025QQcategoryZ53297QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247#ebayphotohosting I think I might need something bigger because it has to create air pressure in the bin that will escape through the filter maybe something like a 250 CFM squirrel cage blower.  What do you guys think?

Itll work your just gonna need a step down transformer...Honestly you could just get one from a hydro supply store and then get a fan speed control switch.

make sure u have the filter facing the right way because air only flows through the filter in a certain direction..  also u have to make sure the top tub is not closed because u need air coming into the fan so take the lid off the top tub

Just grab a 120v blower.

Try one of these fans go for something along these lines these are high out put squirrel cage fans..  They will do the trick but you will pay a little more just take back that fan from home depot and use the money toward this or something like this the more CFM'S the better.

Here is another link click me

ya i think I'm just going to save up and get one of the 180 CFM blowers and use one of those controller things to make it less powerful if needed. thanks again for the links

No Prob eventually I am going to build myself a good flow hood using a nice blower but as of now I am using one of these it cost me like 45 bucks to make.. I was gona make one of the other kind..  But I don't have the money either for a good blower and or a good compressor..

But when I do you can bet I'll be using a blower because the cost of a top notch blower is around $110.00 and the cost of a compressor would be $180+..  So I will definantly be using a blower..  I will build it most likely some time with the next 2 months or so when I do I'll post some pictures of it so you can see how it looks..  Also if you get your done post some pictures of it so I can see how it came out..  The only problem that may accure is the plastics tubs might not be strong enough to hold those big ass blowers..

ya i was checking out that tek to it's pretty sweet, and ill post pics when i'm done with mine.  Also if the bin can't hold the blower I will just prop it up with some 2by4 blocks or something.

2x4 aint a bad idea..  I have a buddy that is a carpenter.. I was thinking about having him make a flowhood out of some 2x4's and some plywood...  he wouldn't charge me except for the cost of material the only problem is that I don't have room for that big of a flow hood..  lol
