The Masters
    #5492385 - 04/08/06 10:38 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

This, to me, is the pinnacle of all golf tourneys.  While the US open is the toughest, and the british open holds the tradition, the masters is the true test of a professionals career.  They have redesigned the course this year by adding more yardage to the course.  This has taken away a lot of the long ball hitters advantages and has truly evened out the playing field.  Had it not been for chad cambell's finish at 6 under yesterday, players would have made the cut at 7 over.  Seeing professional golfers finish over par during the first round (usually the "easiest") just speaks volumes on tough this course is.

I love it, every year i look foward to being able to view the beautiful course at augusta national golf club.  This place is so exclusive that the members consist of only people who have won at the masters, in order to play a round their you either have to have a green jacker or know someone who does.  People wait all year in hope of getting a ticket to just watch professionals play, professionals all dream of having that green jacket slipped over that shoulder.  Me?  I look foward to watch my favorite players tackle this course,  catching a glimpse of rosebud, the magnolia row holes, watching players card a 5 over par on a par 5, watching 65 year old ben crenshaw stay in the hunt with players 40 years younger then him on a course that plays 500 yards longer then it did when he first played on it.

Damn, ill shut up now, i just cant get enough of this tournament.  Any of you guys watching or have a tournament bracket placed?  My bracket is doing so so, i lost 4 players to the cut, but my other guys are playing well.  I sure would like to see tiget win one more for his dad before he passes, im sure he would too.

tiger woods is a douche. there are both better golfers on the tour, and better human beings (at least judging from the way they deal with the public eye)

but, yes, augusta is quite beautiful to look at. would be fun to go to (and really, more fun to play!)

People have told me I remind them of Danny from Caddyshack II. I've only seen Caddyshack though!

Tiger holds the number one ranking in the world.  He holds more titles and has accomplished more then any of the previous "masters" of the game (nicklaus, palmer).  He's changed the way this game is played, has opened the game up to groups of people who would have otherwise been uninterested, and dontates a lot of time and energy to spreading the love for the game amongst the kids out there.

Tiger cant walk 10 feet without being hounded by the press, how would you feel if you couldn't go out to get a beer without having to answer questions about why you missed that 4 foot putt the other day?

I can agree that there are golfers out there who can compete with tiger, especially the rest of the fab five (goosen, singh, mickelson, els), but IME they are all playing on tigers playing field, not the other way around.  If there are better players on the tour they havent showed it.  Tiger lost his number one spot in the world for a few weeks last year to singh, but quickly regained it and has held it since.  Ill agree with your statement that his PR could use SOME work (he does do a lot for the first tee and other special appearences), but until he can't hold onto that #1 spot i dont think there are golfers out there who can match his skills.

Im not a tiger fanatic, i like the way he plays, but think he's too agressive.  I like players like goosen, i think ernie els has the prettiest swing out there right now, and you can't beat the charisma and love of john daly (who was recently drunk and passed out here in a local bar in my town).  So, like i said, i can whole heartedly agree that there are better people out there then him (especially john daly, thats the peoples golfer right there), but i still love watching him play

Good caddyshack II sucks balls and should never have been made.

So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is n

Remember Danny - Two wrongs don't make a right but three rights make a left.

I was born to love you / I was born to lick your face / I was born to rub you / but you were born to rub me first /... What do you say we take this out on the patio?

Ty Webb: You take drugs, Danny?
Danny Noonan: Every day.
Ty Webb: Good. Then what's your problem?
Danny Noonan: I don't know

Man, now im going to have to watch caddy shack since the masters is on delay

John Daly is my man. He has got to be one of the most successful obese alcoholics in the history of sports.....

The Master's are fun as hell to go watch in person, I've only been twice, but it's basically like a frat party for old southern businessmen. I've never seen so many drunk 50+ old men in the same spot in my life. Security is very tight though, they do not hesitate to eject anyone who drank too much.

The only time I could ever stand to watch golf without being bored out of my mind was after compeltely overstuffing myself at an Easter buffet. Parked on the couch, unable to will myself to move except to take bonghits at my friend's apartment, I watched the masters in its entirety that day.

Funny, besides the buffet, thats what i do   Bonghits + poptarts + my lazy ass on the couch watching the masters = total relaxation.

Id actually be out playing right now and catching the replay later, but im either sick or being bothered by the rise in the pollen.  It's too bad, today was gorgeous out here.
