Irrational Love for Teams That Will Always Suck.
    #5482495 - 04/05/06 11:32 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

So I'm from Chicago, and have been a lifelong Bears/Cubs/Bulls fan. This has caused me no small amount of heartache and grief over the years. It is a curse to like teams that will always, in the absence of a bolt of lightning from heaven, suck.

You can say "Well, the bulls won 6 championships not long ago". This is not really true. Michael Jordan won 6 championships w/ the bulls. We're one of the worst teams in the NBA since he left. We are mired in mediocrity. People are clamoring that we'll make the playoffs this year. What? And lose to D-Town in 4 games? That should be fun to watch.

The Bears, well, they're just the Bears. Even in Chicago, nobody really expects much usually. Last year was the exception. I was predicting a super bowl victory, and what happens? We inexplicably get stomped by a team we crushed earlier in the season. Someone decides that covering one of the best receivers in the game should be optional that day. This pissed me off. I'd love to say I'll never watch the Bears again, but I'll be back again next year, like a fucking junkie.

These arent even my true loves. I really really love baseball, and the Cubs have always been my team. Remember the last time the cubs won a championship? Neither does anyone else who's still alive. We spend a shit-ton of money, seem to be in a position to contend, and then some horrible shit-rain of adversity from the sky sends us running for cover. Two years ago, we had two of the best pitchers in the league. Now, neither of them is pitching, and one of them is effectively done. Two years ago, Prior/Wood/Zambrano. Now we have Zambrano/Rusch/Williams. (Who!?) To add insult to injury, the White Sox won the world series. The Fucking White Sox. You couldnt give away tickets to a White Sox game until the play-offs last year.

Anyway...I'm just writing this because the Cubs game is getting ugly. I'm in the other room, and all I hear is Cincy fans going crazy, so I assume we're getting our asses kicked. Its the second game of the season, and I'm already convinced disaster is looming.

Its gonna be a long year....

The Cavs are pretty good when they've got their shit together. They have a chance this year. The Indians are going to destroy the AL.

But the Browns are still the Browns. They will forever suck.

I definitely went into this season an Indians fan...I loved watching them last year.

Shame about Crisp though - but I'm gonna love to hate him this year.

I can't really identify with you guys...I'm a Yankee fan.  But hey, the Jets fucking suck these days!

When was the last time your overpaid group of Roid Freaks and Crybabies won a championship?

It has now been six years since we won a World Series, though we've gotten to one and lost it in that time.

I'm a fellow Detroit Tigers fan. They have won a championship in my lifetime, but I was only 4 years old when that happened. I am excited about this season though. Hmmmm... i get excited every season. I should have learned by now.
So far they've swept KC in two games, but they play Texas tomorrow.

we won our starting series against them last year and did not end up too well. I am just looking for a .500 record. I am 30 now and I actually went to one of the games in the 84 series.
