i have a little "fish tank" light. one of the tinted colored bulbs that i keep on 24/7. mine grow just fine. no abnormalties or anything. so.. from my exsperience.. you should be fine. but also im not sure about higher watt lights . the one i use is extremly dim -monk ahh

Just as long as your light isn't so hot that it affects your humidity.

MERRY CHRISTMAS hehe, i have a very large terrarium, 6high, 4wide, 2 deep i was wondering if a string of christmas lights, running acorss the back wall of each shelf would be enough light for the fungus? I have yet to rig up any mass lighting, it is currently done with an old florecent i had.

Your terrarium is 6 feet high? Sounds more like a coffin! Your shrooms won't grow that tall, I'd find something smaller. You'll find it's easier to control a mini-enviroment when it is....mini.

hehee, sorry, i guess i didnt explain that properly The terrarium is 6' high yes, but it also has 6 shelves outfitted in it (the shelves are made out of the wire racks like your refridgerator has) and its 4 feet wide, and 2 feet deep i was wondering if christmas lights running across the top of _each_ shelf wouild provide enough light to each shelf?

Oh...its a fridge! Light doesn't really provide anything other than a direction in which to grow. I would think one light or string of lights at the top would suffice. As long as the lights don't throw off too much heat.

alright, so basically any old light will do, as long as she doesnt effect temperature? enough light should filter odwn from the top, through the racks/other trays to the bottom i would say. basically you say it just needs suttle lighting?
