Police: Homicide may be linked to drugs

Muskegon Township police now say an attempted armed robbery
that resulted in the slaying of a 34-year-old Muskegon
Township man Feb. 1 has a possible drug connection.

Silent Observer also is offering a $1,000 reward for
information that leads to an arrest or arrests in the case.
Frank James Sibson was shot several times in the chest in
the bedroom of his home at 1521 S. Mill Iron. He was
pronounced dead at Hackley Hospital.

His wife, Danielle Sibson, 29, called 911 about 4:15 a.m., saying two masked men entered the home and demanded money. She said her husband was shot during the ensuing struggle in the bedroom, according to police.

Danielle Sibson described the masked intruders as possibly white men, one of whom had a silver gun.

This morning, Detective Ken Sanford said that when police used search warrants to examine the Sibson property, officers discovered "more than a couple of pounds of marijuana" in the pole building behind the Sibson house.

Also in the pole building was a small amount of methamphetamine, along with psilocybin, sometimes referred to as "magic mushrooms," he said.

Investigators also discovered a large amount of cash inside the Sibson house, "which is obviously leading our investigation into the drug trade," Sanford said. He declined to say how much money was found.

Police earlier said .22-caliber bullets were recovered during the autopsy on Frank Sibson.

The couple's children, Corbin and Genevieve Sibson, were in the home at the time of the slaying. They and their mother were uninjured. Police earlier said there was no sign of forced entry to the residence.

Frank Sibson was an unemployed sheet metal worker. Neighbors said he coached youth soccer and football and that his wife was a "stay-at-home" mother.

At times I get consumed by my everyday life and will leave the Shroomery. Yet, every time drugs come falling into my life for fun.....I always think about the Shroomery and then I'm back!
