Anyone know what a good price for a used Mesa-Boogie Mark IV head would be? The condition of it is great and it sounds beautiful.

Brand new they go for about $1500. Used they usually go for $1000. Anything under $1000 is a good deal. However, if the tubes are old and shitty and they need replaced, deduct $100 from what you were going to pay.

Mark IV's are very difficult amps to master. You can do a lot with them but they have so many knobs and switches that they can be downright impractical at times. If you have the time to tinker with your amp and get cool sounds all day then the Mark IV is perfect for you. If you just like turning an amp on and playing or if you are planning to play live shows...the Mesa Mark IV is not practical and it is way too complicated for those things.
