overclocked vidio cards

i just got a overclocked geforce 6200 and i was wondering what that means. obviously it's making the hardware do more than it should but in what way? i'd hate to break a new toy the same day i got it.

it just increases the internal clock speed. makes it run hotter.
it wont burn up, just might crash a game, then just tweak it and lower the clock til it runs w/out crashin.

Overclocking a videocard involves making the ram and GPU(graphics processing unit...pretty much the cpu of the video card) run faster than it's stock speed. I'm not sure what program people to overclock Nvidia based cards becuase I've always used ATI.

thanks, that's what i wanted to know. i have no desire to overclock my card, just know how it's done so i don't accidentally do it. from what that site says, overclocking is no accident.

It's no acciden't, but it's very safe if you follow the procedures and watch your temps.

so what if your card was already labeled as being overclocked. i just got the geforce 6200 o.c. as it is, it does more than we need it to. the only reason i really got it was so i could run a line to my tv.

If the card comes with O.C. then it is a little bit faster than regular 6200 cards. Since you only got that card to hook up to your tv then overclocking it further won't help with anything
