I've had a baggie of V. aficana rootbark laying about for about a year and have never really done anything with it.....

Today I decided to give it a go and see if a generic extract could be pulled from it with iso alcohol.......

8.5 grams of V. africana root bark was macerated into powder/small chunks with a hammer.
This was then placed into a jar and covered with 100ml or iso alcohol.
Jar was capped and then shook up for a few minutes. The iso turned amber/reddish in color.
Jar will be shook every ten minutes or so for two minutes. Plan on doing this for about an hour.

Thats where im at right now. So, while this goes on.... Anyone out there have any experience with the bark and its supposed stimulating properties?

After the shaking process the iso will be filtered from the bark and then evaporated off.....Depending on what the extract looks like after this step will determine the route of administration (either snuff or oral)......

Also try extracting the bark after this with some acidified water as a tea method... It would be nice to get most out of this!

A little update....

The iso has been filtered and evaporated off leaving behind a surprisingly crystalline extract.....i will post pics if i can find a camera....

Not sure how it will be tested out yet...... any reports on there of snortng these types of alkaloids? what about smoking?

Well a small update on this old thread............

I was cleaning up at the office and trying to organize my seeds/ethnos and such(yes i brought them to the office :smile: )

i came across this extract.....still nice dry crude crystaly looking brown powder

well after reading about the stimulating effects of root-bark and how hunters would use it on long expeditions i decided to give this stuff a whirl again

about 30mg was crushed to a fine powder and snorted......

didnt burn at all

after a couple minutes an uplifting feeling was felt......then very extreme burning!

after ten minutes the burning subsided.....

a definite stimulating effect has taken ahold....as i run about the office cleaning stuff up, organizing, working, and browsing the shroomery in a very organized manner of chaos :smile:

so we will see how long this will last..... not at all like an amphetamine stimulant....i feel very much awake again, slightly raised heart rate, but its odd....my body feels very energized as opposed to just my thoughts/mind....cant really explain it

not very scientific, and maybe a bit haphazardly done....but interesting none the less
