Photo blending (pics) (56k warning) (update, new pics)

Heya,

I've been messing around with an old digital camera that a kind shroomerite gave to me. Nothing terribly exciting, just getting used to it.

I took some snaps in a park near my home called "The Meadows". The hills in the background are called Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags.









Anyways, I had a go at blending them into one panoramic picture.

I used photoshop to try and adjust all the colour and brightness levels to approximately the same values, line up the pictures, and then selectively delete areas using a progressively more transparent brush. The results aren't that great, but OK for a first attempt I hope.

This was my first attempt (using MS paint :P) *sorry for the stupid choice of format*

What do you guys think? The colour balances are a little off, and the join on the furtherst right was tricky, because the changes in perspective made it hard to match the tree branches up. I think it's best to join over low-detailed areas.

I'm going to go out tomorrow and try and get some 360 degree sets to play around with.

Here's one I quickly knocked up a 360 degree shot out of pictures of the room I just moved out of (thank god, it was a stalag). It looks a little weird because the perspective distortions are more pronounced at over short distances. It's pretty slap-dash, but I'm just messing about just now.

*Here* is a _very_ rough low res pic of how the individual images fit together.

I'll try a post a walk-through for the way I blend tomorrow, in case anyone is interested - although it's pretty simple, just rudimentary photoshop and a little patience. Photoshop is being all pissy though, I have no where near enough RAM to use it properly, so I might not be able to do any editing till I clear some space to increase the size of my virtual memory.
