I want to paint this image:

I think it's an extremely surreal and beautiful scene, entailing an unleashing of devastating explosive fusion power.

However, I've never tackled anything anywhere near this kind of scene before, ever. I also don't know if I should use oil paint, or acrylic.

I'm leaning toward acrylic, as my oil paints are low, and acrylic paint is cheaper.

I don't know how to do a lot of the neutrals that I'd need for this particular scene, though. My color theory, and color mixing skills, are both pretty lacking.

This is the one im gonna start soon as the weather breaks here ( i gotta paint outside, my place is TINY )

My girl friend wants it for her living room,  lol hope her hubby likes it also  :wink:

I know how it is to want to capture a scene, but not be able to do it, i have been trying to do a sunset and i cant get the sun right..  its hard to explain, but im sure everyone has seen a sunset like this,  its where you can look at the sun directly, without frying your eyes, and it looks so surreal, like a big red neon light ( sorta).

Kinda like this pic, but not exactly, the one i wanna capture is more red.


Bad thing is i mainly work in oils, so i MAY have to find a different medium to finally get this down

I have to capture essentially the same thing in the core of the explosion. The pink light in there is a large mass of hydrogen going through fusion, which is sort of a miniscule star with a very short life.

I never learned how exactly to make something appear as a bright light source in a painting. Although I beleive a good part of it is to use lots of neutral colors in all the other parts of the painting.

I would recommend using water color. They are pretty cheap, and should be a little bit more forgiving on blending the horizon

I despise watercolor.

I would honestly pay to have watercolors killed, were they a person.

Some good impressionism was done with water colors, actually some absurdly amazing impressionism.
