Does the world really need another "is punk dead?" debate?

I think not.

Dude.

Misfits have been around since 2001, that's when Danzig joined.

Dude, the misfits were around since the 1970's. They are still a band, but Danzig left the misfits a long time ago. If you follow up on him you would be familiar with his other bands "Sam Hain" and "Danzig." The misfits today are not the origional misfits. Jerry Only is the only remaining misfit, and I personally think he sucks dick.

And Danzig STOLE his name from that band. They were called Danzig first, but a guy named Jello Biafra joined, then when he left he started calling himself Danzig and joined the Misfits.

Alright I'll make you a list to end all list of anything you'll ever need to hear in the punk genre...

Against Me! (Sellout Folk Punk)
Antimaniax (They are from some country somewhere, you can grab them for free from their website)
Capdown (Skacore Punk)
Choking Victim (Satano-Politcal Ska Pop Punk, Part 1, seriously the best punk band since The Clash)
The Clash (The best punk band from early on, the only one you need to bother with actually)
The Damned (But only their 2001 album)
Dead Kennedys (Best of the post-punk era)
Evil Empire (Crusty Ska Punk, better than your favorite band)
The Krays (Punk with some hard rock roots)
Leftover Crack (Satano-Politcal Ska Pop Punk, Part 2, seriously the best punk band since Choking Victim)
Mindless Self Indulgence (Gayest Tweaker Punk / Electronica known to man)
New Bomb Turks (Punk with deep deep hard rock roots, good for numbing your brain)
No Ca$H (Not too punky, not too hardcore, but a nice medium, if you like music, you'll like them)
Operation Ivy (Before Tim Armstrong sold his soul)
The Rudiments (No ones ever heard of them, but I gaurentee they'll be loved by you)
The Slackers (Roots Raggae Ska, but theres like 3 white guys, so its punk)
Stockyard Stoics (Their own unique punkness, related to Leftover Crack and the like)
Streetlight Manifesto (Best ska punk band in the whole of history)
Sublime (Meh, sublime is what it is, good)
Ryan Harvey (Folk Punk)
Tom Frampton (Folk Punk)

Punk is dead.

it was a movement in England forever and a fucking day ago. a way for the people to make a statement and try to change the government. they succeeded. Punk is dead. anyone trying to pass themselves off as 'punk' these days needs a serious reality check.

/me waits for arguments to ensue.

damnit...ill bite

i always thought of punk as just doing whatever the fuck you want....be it in a musical sense or fashion sense or simply a way of getting a message out or point across

punk is more of an ideal/philosophy than anything
