Helped a girl out of a bad trip last night.

Yeah it was pretty weird. Went over to my friends house last night and we decided to do mushrooms with his girlfriend and another chick. All of us dosed around an eighth each, except my friend who did a little more.. but it was spread over a longer period of time.
It was my friend's girlfriend's (DD) second time doing them and the other girl's first time. My friend set up Dark Side of Oz, which was just amazing to watch, after we first ate the mushrooms. Well DD started to freak out when we were coming up. She started crying and said she couldn't look into her boyfriend's eyes and seemed really worried that she did them. So I decided to change the setting and get everyone on an outside adventure. That seemed to improve things somewhat, but it was raining and dark out. And eventually she had 'the realization' of what conscious is. The question of 'why?', why are we here? What is our purpose? What's the point? This scared her, because your mind just tries to figure it out. It tries to solve the problem, but it's a problem that can't be solved. And you must just accept this and be at peace with it... because you'll never figure it out.
I told her I knew exactly how she felt, because I had felt the same feelings as her before. I told her to just try and relax, and that everything would be alright. She kept trying to describe things that were impossible to describe. Now it can be frustrating trying to describe something like that because you're just going to fail at it. And I told her this. I think it helped her come to grips with it.
Shortly after she said that she had felt a real connection with me, probably because I was the one who was helping her out of her confusion. And I think that because of this trip we will be closer together, and better friends... because there's now a bond there that wasn't there before.
Just thought I'd share with The Pub.

Good for you man. You need to really have it together "upstairs" to do that. Either that or just be a really chill person... Don't know if I'd be any help at all in that kind of situation.

Yeah.
It's almost a traumatic experience when you first see things as how they really are. You see just how insignificant all that shit is that you distract yourself with just to keep your life busy. It can be a really shocking experience, and I know it can be really hard to deal with when you just discover it in that state.
But I think it's for the better. I think it almost brings you to a higher level of consciousness. A higher level of understanding.

Definitely man. Goodjob!
I agree, it can be a very difficult moment. That moment of realization. I was lucky in the the fact that the first time I experienced, I had read all I could on entheogens, the brain, the soul, consciousness etc. So instead of "oh my god, what the hell is this, what am I trying to think, what is my mine telling me, I cant believe this is what life is" I was more of thought of "ahhhhhh, nice, so this is what they were talking about, I TRUELY understand now."
Again, though, goodjob. Takes a kind hearted, intelligent soul to do what you did, that girl should be pretty grateful.

I've helped several people having bad trips this year.
It feels good to calm people down and steer them back into the right place.

Yeah, good job, man.
I think most of us have been on both sides of the velvet ropes... both helping out a friend and needing a friend to help out with a difficult experience. I remember the first bad trip I had, it felt reassuring to connect with a psychonaut who knew exactly what I was going through. I'll be forever thankful as it turned out to be my most enlightening and favorite trip.
I'm sure that she won't forget that night. You did something good.

This thread gave me a good feeling reading it.
Just emphasizes the importance of tripping with people who you trust!
