International Postal Money Orders

Can someone explain what this is? I need to send one to my friend abroad but I'm not sure how it works... :crazy:

I've searched google but can't find any straight answers. Is this just another name for a Western Union transfer? Either way how do I send the money off and how will he pick it up? Also what sending/recieving information is needed as well as personal ID?

you can either transfer the money to his bank account (to do this, you'd need a bank account number, routing number, etc for the account you want to transfer to, and perhaps a bank account in the us to transfer from), or use western union (but this will cost more than a bank transfer). if western union, you just need his name, and then he can pick it up at any western union location worldwide.

yes just use a wire money transfer such as Western Union it will be fine.

I don't understand this. How will he know when the money has gone through so he can pick it up. And if he just needs his name how will they know that he really is a genuine claimer. For example I could just go to my local post office and say that my name is John Smith and I'm expecting ?123... lol, I'm still confused  :crazy:

You go on Western Union's site and you type in his locationa nd find the closest one to him. Then it waits there for him. You let him know when the transfer goes through.

So you're saying that the money will only be available for pick up at one location, not anywhere that does Western Union? ...That would kinda make sense.

One location, you have him find the one closest to thim. I did this with someone once and it turned out there was a WU affiliate across the street from me.

not in my experience - you just send it, they pick it up at whatever location they want. of course, they have to provide ID to prove they are the person who the money transfer is for.
