I had thought that my first mushroom attempt was a complete failure untill tonight. While cleaning I found a jar that had been forgotten and there were 1/2 inch mushies all over the side and bottom of the jar. I have had a lot of problems with contams lately so I just flipped my jar upside down and the rye cake slid to the bottom giving the bottom shrooms some room. My question is will these deformed flat shrooms grow now that they have room? I dont have a clue how old this jar is and I want to know how to tell when shrooms are done growing. Should I just pick them now and make a tea with the cake? I dont want the shrooms to go bad and have my small something turn back into nothing. Come on you guys I have never tripped before and this could be my christmas present. What should I do? Thanks for all the help.

They'll grow alright, if you give them what they need. And you wouldn't trip off those small pins. You gotta let them get bigger.

Should I leave em in the jar where they have about 3 inches of overhead grow room or try to take em out and into a terrarium and risk contams? If I need to take em out I dont know how without tearing the clump of growing grain to peices.

Smash the jar to take it out. Seriously. I did exactly that before, it worked great. One quick hit near the bottom.
If you put it in a terrarium it'll go boom! with shrooms

Your timeframe of Christmas may be premature, but if you've experienced nothing but fuckups before, this "still in the glass" cake will produce.

To late for the leavem in the jar idea. I put it in a 10 gal with wet perlite for humidity. I did little damage to the cake (only slight blueing) For all those that need to break a jar in the future please wrap it in something first. I have a cut finger, glass shards all over my carpet and so many little pieces of glass on my cake that I will probably have to make tea with a coffey filter to keep from eating glass. Oh well live and learn.

That sucks man. You would have had a better chance of getting shrooms before you broke that jar. Hippie's Neglect Tek would have been the way to go, especially if your having problems with contams after birthing cakes.

I was having problems with contams, so instead of birthing my cakes and getting more useless crap, I let the rest pin and grow invitro. It worked, and now I have a crapload of deformed looking but potent mushies! Anyway, good luck and I hope it works out for ya.

you aren't set on making tea are you. you should have enough shrooms of that cake for a good trip, maybe two! don't get hasty. after you pick a couple shrooms off that cake, a couple more might pop up. cake tea is a last resort. kinda like shwaggy weed.

Im gona have to make tea anyway. I got a teapot with a realy fine filter and there are so many tiny peices of glass on my babies that Im afraid of ingesting them. When you try to brush glass off a fresh shroom it just gets stuck in the body.
Anyway I realy want a Shroomy Christmas so I might have to do the unthinkable.

Once you dry the shrooms, would it not be easier to see the glass and pick it out?

next time when you smash the glass, put it in a bag, and then put it in a vice. slowly tighten the vice until u feel the thing break... this will make the breaking of the jar less explosive, saving you the hastle of glassy shrooms. anyways, if yur so concerned about eating glass, just liet the shroomies grow once their in the glass... once they are mature they should be at least 4 inches long. this growth is NEW and was not there when you broke the glass, thus, it will be GLASS FREE. the bottom 1/8th inch can be cut off and discarded or made into tea if you still think its got glass in it.
I never woulda thought someone woulda grown mushies without actually having tripped before... well, i started growing after my second trip... i loved it sooo much, and mushrooms just dont come around often enough. anyways..
