I find it oddly funny that the "what do you hate" thread currently sits above this thread. thereby completing my own thoughts. i have seen them 3 times and they turned my stomach every time.

30 something show veteran here. I love them, I won't be going to NYE because I have other priorities this year. I caught 8 shows this year and missed out on the entire fall tour because of work. I think they are really turning it up this year, they are definitly moving forward, find a way to NYE man you won't be dissapointed.

every time they were at a festival, be it Nashville's riverfest or Bonnaroo and each time i thought, "damn, that's a huge crowd I am obviously missing something" and i'd try to watch with an open mind but every time i literally had to go away within 15-20 minutes because they were so depressingly unoriginal and just plain sucky. just another jam band doing typical jam band crap. but i certainly don't mind that other people dig them... they are just too cool for me, i suppose.

No thanks, that wouldn't be much of a life to me, they just happened to be close enough to home that I couldn't stand missing them. I'll travel for shows and festivals but a few a month and I get burned out. I'd never want the tour head life.

it makes me sad to see that widespread panic has tried to take up the reigns as the #1 touring jam band now that phish has retired.

i hate widespread panic. got a lot of friends who love them though.. they passed through here on 4/20 this year and that was cool cos it brought a lot of doses and shit like that to this area.. but aside from that, their presence is largely unwanted by me.

after that i'd probably be really tired of it

it seems like every time i come into the pub i see a thread about widespread panic. they are ussually "hey i went to a panic show" blah blah blah. I know they were touring or whatever but jesus christ. Is widespread the pubs new GD? fuckin spread heads...

btw, i think they blow. that guys voice is annoying as shit. just another generic ass jam band imo. The drummers do rock though, i'll give you that.

What the fuck are you talking about? Taking up the reigns? My ass.

That's pretty stupid man, the jam band scene is a rotten disiese anyways, like they want all you dirt bag wookies looking for drugs following them around.

To me, they're much better than Phish/Trey but I'm biased because I find his voice rather annoying. I think there is better jam stuff out there, though, for example the aforementioned moe. and Umphrey's McGee. There are also a couple of local jam bands that are doing good work, so I'd advise you to check out jambase.com and maybe archive.org to find something that best suits your tastes.
